We stayed at thunderbird camping ground for 2 nights. It was the worst camping experience in Australia. The facilities were shocking completely out of date and dirty. For a shower we had to pay 2 dollars per person for a shower that lasted 2 minutes....More

Not far from the rock shop to level one of the mine, maybe a 5 minute walk. It's also easy to find as their are signs to guide you. I didn't go up to other levels of the mine so don't know how much more walking is involved... More
