Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fantastic 2nd hand and antiquarian book shop. Been many times and always books of interest.

Can be very busy and gets crowded around the closely packed stacks. The car park can also be full so get there early!

The coffee shop is very good, but the cakes are not as good as they used to be: I think they have new suppliers.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Allan w two or three hours to search the thousands of books and enjoy a drink, toasted sandwich or cake

So disappointed in the cafe. I have been visiting for a long time and absolutely loved the fab sandwiches and toasties on offer. Today I visited with a friend to find the menu has been changed drastically with very few items on offer especially veggie options. As much as I love browsing the books the cafe was always the draw to this place but with the rubbish menu available now I will not be returning any time soon.

Spent an enjoyable couple of hours with a friend here. We used the SatNav then the website directions which were very clear. Parking wasn't an issue but I imagine during the summer it may be harder.
Staff were incredibly friendly and were able to locate a book I had missed and then looked at a pile of books yet to go out on the shelves where I was able to find a couple more bargains.

I will definitely be returning and we had a lovely hot drink and snack too.

They used to have a reasonably priced good selection of food
Now prices are too high and the selection is poor with cakes cut in size too
Big shame

I visited this morning with my sister, two 3 year olds and two babies.
We were looking forward to our visit and I chatted with my son about it on our 30 minute journey to get there.
The place itself is set in beautiful country side and the buildings are cute and quirky.
My sister when ahead with the children and I followed a few moments later with the pram.
Despite struggling to hold the door open while trying to get the pram through, the lady behind the counter continued to sit looking at her phone. As I entered I wasn’t greeted with a smile or a hello but an expression on her face which led me to think maybe this isn’t a place for young children.

Firstly, we had a drink in the cafe. An over priced satisfactory tasting cappuccino (£3.85)

Next, we walked through quietly and up the stairs to the children’s section.
We were disappointed to find just one board book and probably a handful of books appropriate for 3 year olds.

There was a cute table with 4/5 little stools that were the perfect size for the boys, yet not much choice of books for them to look at.

Overall a disappointing visit. Will not be making the trip again and won’t be recommending.
We’ll stick with our local library which is a lot more welcoming of children. my sister and I both felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff and other visitors.

No longer does the gorgeous cakes on the picture. Does small individual portions of a couple of cakes. Very unfriendly now. More about show than service. Seem to have lost what they were good at.

Wide range of delicious cakes including many outside the normal choices offered elsewhere. Cakes come with strawberries and cream.

Also ordered a great sausage roll and vegetable pasty. Both looked home made and came with salad, crisps, coleslaw and pickle.

Wide range of about 20 milkshake flavours.

Brilliant location. Nice staff. Will be back.

Over priced food. You have to spend £310 to earn a coffee in their rewards scheme. However the books are brilliant.
