After the end of the Second World War, several divisions of the US Army were permanently stationed in West Germany. At the time of the Cold War, there were constantly more than 200,000 US soldiers. For taking a trip into your past, this tour is just perfect for you!
Heidelberg is the ideal starting point for such a trip, as the majority of the US troops were stationed within a radius of just 50 miles around Heidelberg. If you go to "What To Expect" you may find more than 130 relevant sites including the names of barracks and other US facilities.
The name of my boutique-style chauffeur and limousine service is "a friend in heidelberg". Many guests of mine told me that this very name is the perfect choice.
I was not only born in the famous historical city of Heidelberg and know the area extremely well, but also lived and worked in the US and hence speak fluent English. If you wish I can help you with the organization of your trip ahead of time.
You will be chauffeured in a Mercedes S-Class, virtually a private jet for the road, equipped with all state-of-the-art features.

Didn't go in the castled, just ate at the restaurant. Very professional and corteous waitng staff. From the terrace, there are many tables with a good view of the surrouding area, altough a nicer view witht the river is to be had at the castle entrance. The food was okay, bit below expectaions for the price. Not many vegetarian options. Corona rules were observed.

Simply unfriendly, even while the place was empty we were not allowed to take a picture - reason: this would disturb the guest (which weren't there yet). Gettig a table for just a coffee was also not possible, as all tables were reserved in an hour...

While doing some sightseeing in this Southwestern part of Germany, we found the historic city of Wertheim, and its well preserved Castle. Historic facts are very good explained for the interested visitor, and the walk up the the castle from the historic "Altstadt" is also worth to include. The old church just below the castle is quite interesting for a prostestant church, with a interior design one normally would expect to find in catholic churches.

This is a two part castle overlooking the historic old Town. The old part is just one tower. The newer part was occupied until more recently. Not worth a visit in most days due to the fog that normally shrouds Werthhiem

Hiked the hill to the top of the castle, beautifully maintained with a restaurant inside. Surely one of the oldest castles Ive been in and not crowded at all.
