Even though it's hot in July, it's still worth a visit if one is eager to watch flamingoes. There's a flock of about forty flamingoes. There are hundreds of them over here every winter. I was surprised to see this flock still here in July.

The reserve is used by a lot of families and it felt very safe for walking. Signs could be more clearer. Spotted some excellent bird life.

From our hotel (Eloro), we walked along the coast to the Riserva Naturale di Vendicari. It wasn't an easy walk, as the paths are sand and rock, going up and down. Not always easy at my age, and a couple of times, I nearly fell....More

Great for a long Sunday walk along a wild coastal strip! Note that there are no Rest rooms, but a few simple garden restaurants just outside the Park entrance

San Lorenzo is okay but I think the other entrances are better and both have adequate parking. The northern entrance (spiaggia Eloro) is down some narrow, rough roads but takes you onto a lovely long beach, and not far to... More
