When I last visited Noto in the summer of 2007, I did not know ahead of time that the Dome of the cathedral had collapsed in 1996 and that it would take 11 years to rebuilt so that I was unable to visit the cathedral which reopened a bit later in 2007. I then made a pledge that I would... More

Spectacular colours during the sun set in Noto. I loved the view from the stairs and the atmosphere on the main road. Enjoy

The Italians know how to build baroque churches. This is not an exception. But what means SPQN that is written over the entrance?

Really special with beautiful art and laid out in a stately fashion. Tranquil too and really lovely. Well worth a visit.

You can not count the churches in Sicily, no way !!! We saw many, really, and in the most of them we went inside. This St. Nicholas Cathedral is one of them you have to see it !! Believe me.

The baroque period in Noto saw the construction of this amazing cathedral, but like many in Southern Italy, the exterior is more rich and ornate than the interior. Definitely worth a look and the entrance and steps leading up the front create a sense of grandeur.

The best view you get from the roof of Santa Chiara church. And of course from the bottom of the scalinata.

We visited Noto as part of a day in Syracuse and Ortigia, so glad we didn't miss this. Gorgeous and still bit of an unknown gem really. Not sure how long will stay this way as has a lot to offer alongside this place! The stone changes color at different times of day- white in morning, yellow at noon and... More

A really imposing building from the street & beautiful when we visited as it was bathed in sunshine, which on this stonework looks amazing. The inside is stark compared to many of the other churches as owing to one of the pillars collapsing much of the cathedral followed & has been subsequently renovated. Still worth a look.

The doors are the most interesting, otherwise just another church after 14 churches on tour, so can't say enough,
