Special collection of tiles
Sep 2020 • Couples
Madame Helene Kroller Muller had flair, plenty of money and advice, this collection is very special and unique if you like tiles, pottery, history of making tiles throughout the world.
Well presented and curated, a quiet museum not to miss in this part of the Netherlands

More than I expected.

Very interesting exploration of the history of tile, particularly Dutch tile. Worth the stop. Beware, days and hours are limited.

An outstanding display of Dutch tiles
Jun 2019 • Couples
This museum is located in a residential area five minutes‘ walk from the centre of Otterlo. It has a comprehensive collection of Dutch tiles starting in the late 16th century right up to the present. The art of tile —making is graphically explained, and the museum contains some major collections of Dutch tiles, plus small samples of Spanish and Persian tiles. Well worth a visit if you like tiles. There is a small cafe and a small bookstore.

So glad our Museum Card enabled us to visit for free
Mar 2016 • Couples
The museum is definitely worth the entry price, but I don't think we would have checked it out if it had not been on the Museum Card. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It is in a residential area and I don't think you would happen upon it if you did not know it was there. We were staying in Otterlo, so that was perfect.

It was very interesting to view the historic tiles and see how they have developed over the years. I particularly liked the tiles grouped to create a large picture. My husband enjoyed the tile making machinery and information about production. The movie in English was short and not too memorable. There was one in Dutch that seemed more about music than tiles. All in all, we found it a pleasant way to spend an hour or so.

Better than expected, a nice collection

After checking out some museums in Gelderland on tripadvisor I decided to check out this museum. It's not so far from Apeldoorn or the Kroller Muller museum, so if you happen to be in the neighbourhood and you happen to have some time left... check it out!.

they have around 12 rooms with tiles, pottery, pieces of art.... the collection dates back from 1300 up to the present and it's from Iran, Italy, Spain, Portugal to the Netherlands. There are some real pieces of art here... It is an old fashioned museum, not interactive or with a huge description, but what more do you need to know than the country of origine and the year in which it was made?... I think if you want to know more the staff will be happy to tell you all about it.... There is also an option to watch a film/ documentary, but I didn't do that so I can't tell you more about that.

They have a cafe there and it was very quiet.... not a lot of people have found it yet.

I found it nice to see, I didn't stay that long, perhaps 30 minutes, but it was worth it (and I have my museumcard, so it didn't cost me any entrance fee).

Very Interesting

We really enjoyed this small quant little gem, full of the most amazing collections of tiles, particularly from the Netherlands, but there were tiles from all over the world. 5 euros is the price of entrance

This was our second time at the museum, having visited several years ago. It is very well done, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Really worth a visit!

Great Collection of Tiles from 16th Century to today
Sep 2015 • Couples
Nestled in the village of Otterlo it was a surprise to find such a delightful collection of tiles here in the National Museum of Tiles. A very nice welcome and only 5 euros entry we spent a lot of time looking at the history and information on manufacture of tiles in the Netherlands and beyond. The shop is particularly good as you can buy some lovely tiles for great prices. Café was available on site as well.

Interesting and beautiful tiles
Aug 2015 • Family
Good selection of tiles from early classic blue and white Delft tiles, through late 19th Century to more modern. I particularly enjoyed the tiled fireplaces and the more modern tiles in the cafe. Kids can paint a tile for 2.50 Euros.
