Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hidden away in Zuiderstraat lies a gem of a museum showing the over 1,000 year history of Egmond aan Zee. It is well worth a quick visit out of the sun/wind/rain (otherwise known as Dutch weather). You won't be disappointed!

The local history is enourmously underrated, while there is so much to tell. The Museum is housed in a wonderful building dating back to the early 1900's and displays the many aspects of Egmond's past. From the famous Abbey in Egmond-Binnen to the former mideaval castle remains in Egmond aan den Hoef. Obviously, a lot of attention goes into the fishing past of Egmond aan Zee as well. Very recommendable!

I would not recommend to travel to Egmond to visit this museum. But if you are here anyway to enjoy the beautiful beach it is nice to visit the museum. It won't take much of your time, but gives a nice overview of the village and fishermen.

A small museum but a fascinating story to tell. Display text is only in Dutch and there wasn’t a guide book in English but we managed. Gives the history of the castle at Egmond aan den Hoef (worth a walk) and the big house near the north dunes which was used to house children evacuated from the cities during WW1 & 2.

The charming museum is small and gives an insight into local history of the former fishing village.
Larger musea are found in Alkmaar and Bergen. In my opinion worth a visit if you are in the village and want a break from the beach.

Beautiful museum where all aspects of the Egmonden are highlighted. Interesting videos about life in Egmond and the history of the rescue company and their development into the present.
