About
Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre hosts a welcoming cafe with home made cakes and hot food. The Centre also runs a bike hire facility to help visitors explore the extensive track network around the lake. Permits can be bought for fly fishing on the lake, and also to hire fishing boats. The lake is stocked with trout reared on the Llyn Brenig fish farm. Picnic tables and an adventure playground are also available to use. Note that the postcode for the area is large and using a Sat Nav may bring you to the Alwen reservoir, not Llyn Brenig. However, there are frequent brown road signs to help you find Llyn Brenig.

    Brenig Trail
Hired a couple of mountain bike for my wife and myself, very straight forward and easy to do this online. arrived 15 mins early as per the hire request. Because we had filed our registration forms in online there was only 1 form to fill in then we got our bikes. The bikes were not el cheapo bikes either but decent quality mountain bikes. We got a map of the Brenig trail plus a couple of instructions as the track does leave the lake and not to panic. After the ride handing the bikes back was straight forward. Looking forward to our next trip already.

    Great view of Ospreys.
My wife and I visited Lynn Brenig because the North Wales Wildlife Trust has a hide overlooking an Osprey nest, and during the summer months it is possible to see the Ospreys on the nest and raising their chicks. The Wildlife Trust site and the hide are a little way from the main visitor centre, but they will give you directions. The volunteers there will tell you all about Ospreys and their remarkable lives and migration. Please note that if you want to go into the hide you must book this in advance on the website, and pay a small fee. It’s well worth the money. If you have good quality optics then I suggest that you take these with you, but if you don’t have anything, then the Wildlfe Trust staff have a telescope in the hide that you can use. The views from the hide are remarkable, but you should also be aware that the male bird makes frequent trips away from the nest to catch fish, so you may not always see both birds. If you are only partly interested in bird watching, then this is a visit that you should definitely make…. It’s unlikely that you will get a better view of Ospreys anywhere.

    Osprey Project Bird Hide
Booked a session in the Llyn Brenig Bird Hide when the Osprey Chicks were still on the nest. An amazing hide, With great views of the birds. I was able to take some lovely pictures & most of all just wonderful to watch them. Well organised & run by volunteers & The team from the Wales wildlife trust - Osprey Project. Parking is £3 for all day & the hide price £15 for 1-1/2 hrs. Scopes are all set up & binoculars to use. Bring your own camera & gimbal attachments are already in situ. Well worth it. Learnt so much about the project and the birds. Many thanks.

Brilliant staff, welcoming and professional, great value
All the staff we met were welcoming and friendly. Staff were knowledgeable and professional, making us feel both very welcome, looked after and safe on the water. Thanks for a lovely experience for the family on the boats which we all throughly enjoyed. Great value and a brilliant team, well worth a visit.

Went to see Ospreys - great views, lovely visitor centre
We hired the Osprey hide for a 2.5 hour session. It was amazing - Andy the Guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful and the views were great. The hide seating is comfy but the height of some of the armrest shelves versus the height of the seating and windows was a bit off. Also the camouflage borders flap around in front of your lens sometimes and were difficult to get out of the way. But these are minor points! The Visitor centre is also lovely and we had a really nice lunch which was very good value.

Stunning location to do Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) with the family
Booked a session of Stand Up Paddleboarding on Llyn Brenig Reservoir and had the best time - staff in the Activities Hub were really welcoming and knowledgeable, and made sure we had a safe and fun time out on the water, with a manned safety boat watching over. A stunning location to have a go at Paddleboarding and would highly recommend. Really good value for money - and the coffee in the Cafe was really good too!

Started off a bit cloudy with a fair ripp w after. Caught a perfect conditioned fish trou on top dropper usin
I have been trout fishing at Llyn Brenig since 1985. It's not the easiest of places to fish but it's my favourite venue! To say it can be challenging is an understatement. The weather plays a major role up there ! On those rare occasions when I blank I always feel satisfied that I have had a wonderful day in a beautiful wild setting! Yesterday (19/9/2023) was one of those days which was definitely not for the faint hearted and for those like me who relish a challenge it was an opportunity to take to the water in pursuit of our quarry! My result after much effort not to mention skill was my six fish bag limit - unusually five browns and one rainbow! I won't say "just another day at the office" because it wasn't.

    Great day out.
Our 3rd visit to Llyn Brenig for a day fishing. Superb scenery, peaceful and decent weather made our day. One of the staff we spoke to was very helpful and gave us good information about the fishing. Highly recommend a visit and we will be back very soon.

    Great place to visit
Llyn Brenig is a wonderful location. Great staff and excellent facilities at the visitor centre. Disappointed with posh fish finger roll £7.50. It was 2 fish fingers on a bap. Didn't live up to the billing. Disappointed

A vast improvement on the quality and abundance of fish this year compared to last year.
Had an amazing day fishing on one of the well maintained boats. Looking forward to a few more day's when the weather warms and the fish come up to the surface.
Thanks all the staff.

Had a lovely walk around the lake it is a relatively easy 9 mile walk, had a lovely visit to the cafe afterwards I can definitely recommend the pasty.
The one issue was the car parking system which is a nightmare with machines not working, no signal to pay on line and 15 minutes to actually pay and then for added insult a convenience fee added to the parking when paying through the APP.
