My wife and two friends enjoyed a wonderful evening at a Hooley Show at Johnnie Fox's. We did not come for the food, and although not fantastic, it was good. The staff were friendly and attentive. But the music and dancing were performed by such talented artists. The history and storytelling through the music was amazing. The place was filled to capacity and everyone had a great time, enjoying the artists and each other. Thank you Johnnie Fox's for a memorable night while in Dublin.

Went to johnnie foxes last night. Called last thing to book a table, then called to say we would be late. Hear this, they read out the whole menudo we could pick so it would’ve ready for us when we arrived as the
Kitchen was closing.

In the time of the Clifden debacle we were ushered in after being given face masks, temperature read, hand sanitizer on every table, social distancing staff with masks. All staff wore the mask, not on their ears or up their nose but correctly.

Main course melt in the
Mouth lamb shanks with perfect gravy, warm carrots and mash. Oh God, it
Was sublime. Friend had the chicken supreme, moist, veg done to perfection al dente, mash was just bang on. This isn’t
Posh food this is Plain food done properly. No messing. Desert menu seemed limited but the toffee chocolate cake was to die
For. No proper decaf which was a pity but
A grand big pot of tea.

What I especially liked was the
Delph. No steel pots and white dishes. The
Delphi was earthenware glazed. This complimented the Food perfectly. It just worked.

Staff were lovely, unobtrusive and efficient. A lot of fancy Dublin restaurants could learn a thing or two from Johnnie Foxes pub. Loads to look at, loos a hoot and all in all great for a quick meal.

So well done Johnnie Foxes. !!!

Awful 😞 tried again following a bad experience previously. While friends had a nice meal the week before I was there it is just too hit and miss unfortunately. Better places to spend time and money !
Main issues are rude staff and slow food - every place should get a second chance but not a third

The hooley was nice to see. Some traditional irish music and dance while enjoying some great food.

The room was full with mostly tourists but it was a nice experience singing along with some tunes.

January 12, my birthday and I wanted to bring my family to Johnnie Fox on that day. Airline tickets, hotels for the weekend, buses back and forth and tables with the show at Johnnie Fox (where an advance payment of EUR 225 was paid) were booked and paid.
We were basically 9 people and it was going to be this year's birthday celebration with the family. The weekend came and off we went - the surprise was great when another "family member" surprisingly showed up in Dublin. We called Johnnie Fox straight away to get the order confirmed and ask if it was ok that we have now 10 and not 9 people. This was confirmed by phone with the message that we were warmly welcome.
The evening came, the guests were partying and the atmosphere was high. I Must say the disappointment was enormous when we arrived at Johnnie Fox and it turned out that they didn't have a table for us. They had made a mistake with the reservations. Now we were 10 people who had come all the way from Norway, just to celebrate the day at Johnny fox ... Clearly it was "trouble"... The end result was that the 10 people were placed in a faraway corner of the restaurant to eat. We were then promised that they would come and get us for the show when it started. They also promised that they would take good care of us.
We tried to make the most of it - after all, it was a birthday celebration, though it was totally ruined. We ordered a bottle of sparkling to start there with a birthday toast and calm down a little. When the waiter came with the sparkling, it was just put on the table - no serving. Is that what they call taking good care of? The result was that I - the "birthday child" served my guests myself.
The food came and the atmosphere began to calm down, but the party atmosphere was totally absent for my part. So when we were eventually brought in to the show room where the other guests were, all in a great spirits, and we were placed in two different parts of the room (there was not room for the company together), my disappointment was actually even greater. Here we had paid a lot of money for the weekend to celebrate my birthday, have a wonderful evening with high spirits and have a memorable experience and what do we get? A totally ruined evening and for my own part a totally ruined birthday celebration and gift for my family. The result was that in order not to spoil the show for my family too much, I left the room and I went out into the pub and sat there to wait for the bus to return to town. For Johnnie Fox is so far off the beaten track that one can not just turn around and leave, No! One is actually left to either pay dearly for a taxi or wait until the bus returns to the city.
My daughter (not me who actually ordered the birthday trip and was paying for it) got an apology saying that the next time we came, they would make sure everything was arranged for us .... Next time we came???? When do they think we have a next time for 10 people? It actually costs quite a lot of money for 10 people to come from Norway to Dublin, stay in hotels, get to Johnnie Fox where to have a full package of food, drinks and shows. And with how they keep their promises, I wouldn't dare to take such a chance just to risk the same thing happening again. I think Johnnie Fox has become too commercialised, which is not a good thing. Too many people in a very small space leaves no room for any error.

Had been lookin forward to gettin to Johnnie foxes since the lifting of restrictions! What a disappointment! the menu has been significantly reduced and when we asked staff we were told ”staffing issues, nothing we can do” our favourite mussels however wer still available but no were near as good as they once were, of the 6 in our group nobody was satisfied with what we were served!
It will be a while before we consider the 45 minute drive to this place again!

We were so excited about our trip to Johnny fox’s for New Years. The show and food was amazing. At 12:00 the balloons and confetti brought the new year in but straight after this the night ended. The bar closed and absolutely no background music was heard. We were left highly disappointed because there were travelers from all over the world and they were ready to go long into the morning. The one waitress told us when asked why it was closed so early, that it was so she could go to sleep. Highly unacceptable answer when you have spent €700 on a couple hours for 5people. This has left a bitter taste in our mouths.

Visited for a nice pint of the black stuff and bowl of sea food choder. Was told that we could not have our food outside as everyone who was outside would then want food and they did not have the staff to deal with that demand.
2 stars for the pint and lost 3 as we could not eat outside.

Not an impressed potatoe
