A little gem ... with a free bit of beach too! Archaeological dig and museum. Incredible Cave/Grotto by the sea - supposedly part of Tiberius' palace.

A charming, albeit short visit to the Villa of Tiberius and Museum of Archeology left us amazed at what life might have been like for the wealthiest of the Romand Empire visiting their coastal retreats. The museum does a good job of showing its artefacts (but could do with a little investment to the building's condition and exhibits). This does... More

This place is less than 2 km from Sperlonga, so it's easy to walk there. The entrance fee isn't very much and I think it's only 2,50 if you're under 25. The exhibition was interesting, and I like how it included telling how this villa was found in the 1950s because that was a fascinating story on its own. The... More

Great piece of history with a superb museum in a great location. Not expensive to go into. Could do with some more explanations when you are actually in the villa but the cave is great.

Worth a visit while staying in Sperlonga. Just a quick drive away from the town center. Offers a chance to walk among the ruins of the Emperor Tiberius' villa. The grotto area is very cool - great for kids!

The Villa is all gone but the foundations remain and gives a good impression of what it once must have been like. The museum at the entrance has however the famous statues that has made the Villa famous and they are well worth a visit. So is the cave down by the beach where the statues once were located. It's... We visited the Villa but thankfully did not go in but instead went to the beach next to it. From there you can see in to most of the villa for free and also enjoy a lovely beach

Archaeological museum + ancient villa. Paid entry. Interesting to see really big ancient sculptures at the museum, to visit villa and apartment of Tiberio, to see big and small fish in the pond, to make pictures in the cave.

This remarkable piece of history was found in 1957 during the construction of the highway that run right by the current site. The fact that this was just one of many of the places that Tiberius spent time is secondary to the artifacts that were found here are and many of which are still here in the small museum at... More

It could use much more historical explanation. Worth a visit only if you have time. The statues are amazing, but of course lose something by being inside the museum rather than in the cave. The cave and the archeological site could use more work to make it a more rewarding experience.
