Excelente and well prepared and preserved walkway. Astonishing nature proximity, views and experience. Beware of the 500+ step you have to climb independently of where you start

We paid 4€ each and the experience wasn’t that great, walk path sometimes not good and the bar close to the “beach” was closed so you can’t get water. The bridge you have to book ahead and each pays 12€. Ridiculous

This is a very nice long walk in a preserved natural area with almost all of it on the wooden walkways. It’s through a gouge with the river down below. Even if you start at the top and walk down you still have to do some serious stairs up. Easier from top but not as if it’s all down hill. I enjoyed my visit. If you like a good walk and can do a lot of stairs I recommend it.

Tried to go here today, website wasn't taking payment so thought we would pay on arrival. Parked in top carpark as advise d as in motorhome. Walked the mile or more down steep dusty track, then another half mile to the start of wooden walkways only to be told next availability is at 6.30pm ! And you can only pay via website ? (See below from their website)
" On the entrance only payment with bank card is available'
So be warned, book a time slot and pay (if website is taking payments) before you go.
We wasted a today and the staff member not helpful at all.

we had the chance to visit the walkways with the best guide, Diogo Concalves! He is a kind and funny man. The Paiva walkway was a nice cozy journey.

Very nice hike over wooden pathways. We hiked from Areinho to Espiunca and then took a taxi back to the Areinho parking lot. Taxi costs were 15 to 20 euros total for three adults.

Toilets are available halfway the hike. You can take a break & a swim in the Paiva river at one of the beaches that you will pass by.

My two companions were unfortunately sick on the day and because we have booked tickets, I decided to drive there by myself and do a solo trip.

Being quite fit and adventurous, I decided do the walk both ways and for this reason started from Espiunca rather than the easier Areinho start so that I could go up the famous stairs at mid point and then down on the return leg which was a smart choice. For the less fit, starting from Areinho is the sensible choice as you will go down the stairs fairly early then walk to river beach and have a good break and then walk the rest to the end to Espiunca and then catch a taxi back to your start which is about 8km. I decided not to do the large pedestrian bridge on the Areinho side as I has read that one needed to book a time so that Luke be too inflexible but one can take pictures of the bridge from the sitars.

The walk is on par with the best in the world, beautiful river, majestic cliffs, suspension bridges , a waterfall and then thrown for good measure, a charming river beach at the mid-point for a rest, a picnic and even a swim. In peak season, there is a small cafe at the river beach but it was closed on my trip. The walkway is very well maintained walkways with emergency phones at points.

This is must do bucket list for anyone on Northern Portugal,

We entered the walk at Areinho. There was ample parking and clean bathrooms and also a cafe, although not open at this time. The path is very good and the stairs are just wonderful. We walked to the bridge, which we didn’t take, instead continuing on the path to a lovely view of the river and a large waterfall going from the top of the mountain down. We regretted that we didn’t have more time to do the entire walk. Our cost was one euro per person, booked online. They didn’t check for the tickets until we came to the bridge, maybe 2 km in. A very nice walk in the woods! Moderate difficulty. I would say easy as we are in our early and late 60s, but we did encounter a couple laboring to get up and it does give your heart and lungs a workout.
