Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I did not use the aqua splash so this is more of a review on the beach area and lake. It isnt really a beach, its a bit of dirty looking sand which has a lot of swan poo on. There is also a small piece of grass that you can sit on. I took a sun lounger so I didn't have to sit in poo. I guess it is a natural area so you have to expect a bit of "nature" The lake is quite cold when you first get in and there are lots of weeds that get caught round your legs. There is a charge of £7.50 to sit or swim which is a bit expensive for what it is. However if you use the cafe you can sit and swim for free. You have ask about this though as they do not advertise it. I went when I thought the school holidays had finished, unfortunatly a large group of teenagers arrived. They swore and screamed in the lake most of the day. I can imagine that the school holidays would be a bit hetic. I had to shower as soon as I got home at I smelt of lake!

I had read the previous reviews and thought couldn't be that bad but it was. The whole course was covered in large amounts of bird poo, can understand there being a few bits as it is on a lake but the inflatables had obviously not been cleaned in a while, lots of parts of the course were not properly inflated which made it difficult to get round. The whole place is very basic, rundown. We definitely would not be visiting again.

I’ve been to several of these and this place could be great and is a good activity. However, things to note. Waze app will direct you to the door, but once you arrive don’t expect directions from the staff. The safety briefing was basic (don’t take off your life jacket and we will blow the whistle when your time is up). Two life guards, who seemed to be doing their job but this is not enough for the number of blind spots and the set up of the inflatable meaning if you fall in at some points you become trapped as it is impossible to get back on and you rely on others to help you up. It is safe if you are in a group and look out for each other, however kids were on there on their own and it is an accident waiting to happen. If going with kids watch them like a hawk, don’t sit on the bank and let them go on without as this is too big of a risk!

I visited today for the first time, I was a bit apprehensive after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Although there is some bird poo it’s not as bad as I expected, it is only on the top of one section and it doesn’t affect you. We arrived with 5mins to spare and may have missed the safety talk. We had so much fun, we didn’t stop laughing, the lifeguard had to pull us out as we ran out of energy. An hour session is long enough. The changing rooms are wide areas, the floor needs some of pallets as the mess was everywhere. Overall we had a laugh, we had fun, the staff helped us. Few little niggles but didn’t spoil the time we had. Water shoes is a must as I had no idea what I standing in!

My 13 year old son and his friends had a great time here today but as a parent I was much less impressed. The inflatables are covered in bird poo, there are no open toilets, the ‘medical room’ is a storage hut which doesn’t look like it’s been touched in years and the drinks machines are destroyed and used for hanging a large speaker which blasts music. For spectators there is a small patch of grass with a couple of wobbly tables which is surrounded by what looks like a dumping ground. The whole area needs a lot of care and attention and some decent investment. I dread to think what’s lurking in that water.

Went to this aqua park on Saturday 13th May for my nephew 11th birthday, we arrived finally after no signs or directions to show us where we needed to go. Once we got to the aqua park, it was looked after by 2 young girls no older than 20 and was not the most helpful! We asked Where we could get changed and if we have wetsuits of which they said “if you want to by there aren’t many wetsuits available” baring in mind we was the only ones there that day and it was freezing!! By the time we got into the water it was honestly disgusting, don’t get me wrong I understand it is in a lake so it is not going to be the cleanest however how can the inflatable be covered in goose S***! It was honestly vile, plasters all over it and fag buts! Imagine sliding down into a mud puddle to get to the other side and it full of crap! Health and safety should not be keeping this open! We will not be returning and I wouldn’t recommend anyone going there!

A beautiful setting for fun on the water! The boys enjoyed themselves. Very friendly staff and a good amount of lifeguards on duty. We will defiantly be going back.

Group of 24 year olds, we had so much fun, as the water level was a little low I had an injury and was bleeding a fair bit, staff are fairly young and definitely need to be first aid trained for general safety! We had a lot of fun but lack of urgency or care that a customer was bleeding!

But it is a good day out maybe a bit better/safer when the water level is higher!

Our kids were aged 11-16 and had a great time although there were a lot of people on the structure at once. They were wearing lifejackets and stuck together as a group and looked out for each other.

If I had had smaller children on it I would have wanted to go with them to keep a closer eye on them as it didn't feel particularly well monitored by the teenage staff, and it was very crowded so small children would have been shoved out of the way by teens and adults. Even our 11 year old was a bit upset at bigger kids pushing in front of him and not waiting for people to finish on a section before barging on.

Would probably be better to have sessions for different age groups rather than allowing small kids and teenagers/adults on together.

We had a bit of a swim in the lake after the assault course session. It was very welcome to cool down in the heatwave but the water is a bit smelly, and you want to keep your feet up as the mud at the bottom is black and disgusting.

We were staying at the nearby campsite (which I do not recommend at all!) so didn't use the toilets/changing rooms at the Aqua Splash.

The whole area was very busy as a boiling day during August. Bizarrely the ice-cream stall was just closing at 3pm despite there being loads of people there, but when we went to the back door the guy agreed to sell us some small Mr Whippys with no flake for £2 each (bit pricey). Not much place to sit on the 'beach', only a couple of benches. Didn't use the cafe.

This is a great setting but it's not run well. The water does stink more than other swimming lakes I've used and it's very weedy. The lifeguard is one disinterested girl sitting on a boat looking at her phone.

There are no showers or changing facilities.

The cafe is either not open or just about to close or open but too busy to serve food and drinks...seriously.

So as much as I love the setting - and I will continue to go there - I do think it's expensive and badly managed.
