imagine in a clear and shiny day, you walk a long way belong the beach on sand and pedestrian, most of your view is the sea, the town and people. Suddenly, you see an old history castle by the beach, you would be attracted to that. It will make you stay back for a while.

Simply stellar spot to be and look out and around at the water and beyond. Free. In and near a lovely area of simply beautiful buildings, churches, pubs and small restaurants.

Lived in Tynemouth all my early life and on a recent visit found that since English Heritage have taken over that gates to the grounds, outside of the Priory, are locked when the Priory is closed. As a child and teenager we used to play in the moat or just walk around the outer walls, such a shame that everyone... More

Me and my husband visited the priory, whilst we were on holiday. We were so impressed with the history offered and the amazing views. There is no guide but the information points are very informative.

Blessed with a perfect Sunday evening' weather at the end of October this was idyllic . Dramatic , atmospheric and beautiful . Fabulous views . And they do a lot of interesting things here e.g a scary history eve for Halloween . Loved it .

Despite the less-than-stellar weather my friend and I spent a fascinating couple of hours exploring this site earlier today. From medieval monks to shipwrecked sailors to First World War gunners, this site has been home to a huge cross-section of society and seen more action than many other similar sites combined. As we left with minds fizzing with inspiration a... More

Very well situated looking out over the North Sea at the mouth of the River Tyne, the views on the sunny day that we visited were grand. The staff were helpful, the display boards were interesting, and the buildings and grounds well worth a visit for a couple of hours.
