We were in the area so decided to stop by. It’s interesting, more so the story behind it than the monument itself. We spent about 5 minutes here.

The monument was about a block down the street from the museum. We turned right and walked down this little street past some homes, and then gradually up a small hill to find the monument. We took several pictures. The views from here were quite...More

We eventually found the monument which was not very well signposted. I’m glad we persevered and it’s a fitting memorial to a terrible act.

Not the easiest to find but well worth the effort, brings home a little more of Scottish history and the troubled past of the area.

We stayed at Glencoe House which was very close to the monument. Had to visit given we are MacDonald’s and my husband resided in the Highlands in his early childhood. Fitting memorial and well done to those who continue to maintain it.

A simply stunning backdrop to a shocking piece of Scottish history. The stunning surroundings are the real star and worth a visit regardless.
