If you’re like me and complain when even looking at the Mount then this place will literally murder you haha it’s what I imagine Mount Everest is like to ascend if you’re an elephant. Apart from the heavy breathing, burning legs and sweat this is...More

This is a god walk, quite steep in parts and take a hat as there is not much shade since a lot of the forest has been cut down (will no doubt grow again). Takes about 40 mins up and 30 mins down if you...More

This is my favourite local hill walk. It’s a challenge especially for the first 15 minutes or so as you leave the car park, no gentle start ! This used to be a dense pine plantation which was pleasantly shaded but they were all felled...More

This walk was once excellent. Unfortunately with all the trees cut down it is extreemly hot and not as interesting. Stil the view from the top is breathtaking.

Walked to top and ran down with my 9 year old. Took about 35 minutes. Recently logged so a bit bare but hundreds of native trees recent planted that will be beautiful in 5-10 years. View from top is magnificent

Papamoa Hills is a good way to walk and get some nice views. Also good for running and not many people usually. They also have toilet facilities at the carpark if you need it before you start your walk.

Ample parking for 30+ cars with two public toilets. We visited on a cool (11 degree C*) Monday morning, only 6-7 cars in the lot. I noticed the wind picks up as you get higher on the hill so wear layers, and bring a camera,...More
