We had to dodge the rain but it did stop and we found the trout displays very interesting. We had the privilege of seeing endangered young Blue Duck from the breeding program, prior to their release in rivers in the area

Stopped in for a quick visit and had a great time! The museum in the first section was informative and well laid out. Easy walk through and around the centre to see the trout with a nice short riverside walk. Easily worth the entry fee - enjoyed it very much!

I have been there with my family to research and observe the different types of plants. That was pretty fun. The waterfall in that area makes our trip amazing. Very cool place and naturally beautiful.

It was a really great experience for me and I would recommend it for you. When we were there we were able to see whio and some trout. We were able see how a state trap works so there would be more whio to live. Did you know that whio are more endangerd than the kiwi if not well there... More

We have had a record year for relocating whio (Blue Duck) back into the wild, unfortunately they are now away getting ready for another great season starting Summer 2017. More

The Tongariro National Trout Center offers many types of activities all in a beautiful setting – a museum all about the history of trout and trout fishing in NZ, an active hatchery program and aquarium, a great walking path through the lush forest and along the Tongariro River, an education program and a kids fishing pool. The visitor center and... More

Good on memorabilia but I as a trout fisherwoman would have liked more details on trout habitats and what makes them great and what can spoil them. More incentive to look after the wonderful habitats would be good!

I headed here with the family for something to do in an overcast afternoon. The trout centre was nice to walk around with pretty grounds and a heap of large fish. I can see the appeal of the kids pond if you have a little one who wants a sure catch. Next time I'll have to go for a walk... More
