Can not go direcly on top of the mauntain, since it is a sacred Maori ground, but even ike under Mr. Doom is unforgettable experience. The views are amazing. One of the best hikes I´ve ever done

Not the most beautiful mountain I've seen but really neat anyway. Knowing that it was used as Mount doom make it cool. The colours around the crater make it unique. This and the 3 blue lakes are the highlight of the alpine crossing.

the breathtaking experience trailing around Mt. Ngauruhoe was it's something worth going all the way from Australia to NZ. Would do it again very soon.
