In a perilous funding situation, due to force of will and an extremely able gallery director, Aratoi does an incredible job of exposing its community to local and global art and history. There's also lots more action happening these days with Fab Lab workshops and...More

Thank you! Aratoi works hard to connect with the community, with our exhibitions, outreach, educational activities, a new "Live @ Aratoi" performance series, and more.

It's a small space expanding into the old church. For me the old hall was where the more interesting art lie. Free to enter. Have a short stroll through even if art is not your thing.

A well appointed art museum and worthwhile stopping. Diverse range of items on display from jewelry and craft to local and nationally acclaimed artists. Go there!

Aratoi has created an add-on; small workrooms where local artists do their creating WHILE YOU WATCH. That is until the whole place closes down at 4.30 pm. including the excellent cafe. Tourist attraction in the sense that the I SITE is next door to the...More

I popped into Aratoi for an art fix while in Masterton - was impressed with the service from staff on the front desk, and I enjoyed the vibrant range of art on display, including glass sculpture, paintings, and a wonderful bronze and other media sculpture...More

Thank you. We're open every day of the year (except for a few public holidays) so come as often as you like -- we have about 25 different exhibitions each year.

This local museum is wonderful asset to the Wairarapa. It focuses on (mainly) local history and portrays this very well. Displays are well lit and description panels easy to read. By international standards its not very large, but it makes us for its lack of...More

Entry was free, though there is a donation box. The museum is bigger than it appears so it's worth spending an hour browsing through its current displays. It's a very modern, clean, light filled building, with a shop full of local interesting items.

The coffee I had wasn't great. The chocolate brownie was dry and we didn't finish it. The museum itself looks interesting.

If you happen to be in Masterston this is a great little galley to check out. It's not big but friendly and easy to get around. It was better/more interesting than The Dowse in Wellington.
