This lake is located in the heart of South Island. An absolute must stop at the scenic lookout/visitor centre which is off the highway. Astounding views of the snow capped mountain region over the aqua blue pristine lake, absolutely breathtaking. Don't forget to catch the...More

Its a great stop on your drive . A small shop for a coffee and some great local salmon delicacy . Try The salmon with wasabi and soy , its really fresh and yummy.

What a beautiful lake. Unfortunality we did not see Mt cook as it was the only mountain under cloud, so it looked like it had dissappeared. Lake Pukaki is a huge lake and there is a great viewing area of the road.

We drove along the entire length of this lake to and from the Mt Cook area and we found ourselves stopping numerous times to appreciate the views and beauty of the area. Many simply breathtaking vistas all over the place.
