You will have to hug the West Bank of Lake Pukaki on the way to the Hooker Valley Track, and the views are stunning. This is actually the lake I love most, even better than Tekapo, Wanaka and Wakatipu due to the beautiful turquoise colour...More

Probably one of the most beautiful places I have visited, plenty of free camping around the lake and the view of mount cook on a clear day is a site to be seen

You get wonderful views of the mountains as well as the view of the brilliant blue water of the lake. It is very relaxing sitting and looking over the water to the mountains.

Stop off at the visitor centre and viewpoint at the south of the lake. What a stunning view. The colour of the water is unreal. Amazing place to take in nature and the scale of the scenery.

We stopped at a couple of the lookout points on our drive to Mt Cook. The main lookout just before the Mt Cook turn off is simply spectacular. I’d say that Pukaki is even more special than Tekapo. We were told by some locals that...More
