The knitted poppies are a lovely tribute to our fallen hero’s, also some purple op pies in remembrance of the animals that lost their lives too.

Do it, it's free and well worth a visit. There are plenty of places to park and get a drink and eat. A good cheap family day out. If visiting York don't miss Selby Abbey. It's about 12 miles out of York.

We very nearly missed our visit to the Abbey because Selby was merely a place en route to our final destination but it is definitely worth making a detour from any itinerary to visit this magnificent church. The history is of course fascinating and explains...More
