We only did the self guided walk as we had our dog with us, so couldn't go into the exhibition. John came out from the visitor centre while we were deciding what to do and gave us a map. The walk was very enjoyable and interesting. The weather was super and so were the views. Really worth doing.

Good Morning RaeWhip, thank you for leaving the Heritage Centre a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and were able to do the Battlefield Trail walk with your dog. There are certainly some lovely views of the local countryside as you walk the Trail, especially at this time of year with the autumn colours. We do offer a guided walk at the weekend and dogs are very welcome to join in. Hope to see you again.

We went on the guided walk last Saturday with friends. Nick, our guide, was amazing. His knowledge and enthusiasm brought the history to life and we were riveted for the duration of the walk. Thank you so much Nick for a terrific experience.

By far one of the best museums we have visited. The displays of how the battle unfolded were incredible. There was enough for a wide range of ages and interests. Completely engrossing. The staff were lovely too.

A really interesting place to visit. The visitors centre and exhibition was incredibly informative with not only information about the battle but also about characters, contemporary life and with displays and interactive/multimedia presentations. I would definitely need more than one visit to take it all in!
We also joined a guided walking group with the excellent guide, Harry. He made the session informative, interactive and fun. We had a range of ages from children to pensioners and Harry was able to engage and educate us all!
There is a joint ticket available to visit here and the Richard III exhibition in Leicester for £13.00. Excellent value! The guided walk is an additional fee too but is really recommended. It is outdoor so be prepared. You can book in advance or turn up on the day but obviously booking guarantees a place.
The staff in the centre are friendly, welcoming and really knowledgeable. What a gem! Thanks for a great day!

Amazing visit today of the Heritage Centre. In addition to purchasing our tickets to the exhibition centre we booked the tour of the Battlefield site, excellent value given what it revealed. Our guide was Nick and he took us on a walk round the site giving us a detailed explanation of all the key elements of this battle, enlightening our knowledge of this important event. It concluded with an excellent insight into how this event unfolded, involving us all in how the battle developed and concluded. An engaging visual description using a length of rope, chalk line and some flags, brilliant. Well done Nick, your knowledge and enthusiasm shone through. We then did our tour round the exhibition centre which is very professionally set out, giving us a detailed explanation of every aspect of this important part of our history. We are now Ricardian converts. A brilliant visit.

A brilliant visitor centre and battlefield walk. The Visitor Centre has great displays and audio visual features telling the story of the history behind the Battle of Bosworth, what actually happened on the day, and the stories of the victors and losers. It really is excellent. The walk is wonderful too, amazing views. Great volunteers in the Visitor Centre too. Highly recommended!

Henry/Harry gave us a superb tour of the battlefield, bringing the complex history of England in the Middle Ages to fascinating light. We were entertained and treated to a summary of his expertise telling us why there was a battle, why it was here (well nearly here) and what happened after. He easily involved us.

Hi there. Is Bosworth suitable for small children? We have two under 4. Thank you.

The children would like the battlefield site but wouldn't recommend the walking tour as they would get bored. Probably suitable for 8 upwards as very historical. There is an indoor hands on museum which might be better.

I plan on traveling from London to the battlefield then back to London in a day and I have a few questions. Does anyone that you know of run tours ether out of London or Leicester for day trippers like myself? I'd like to visit Leicester and the historic sites there on the same day, am I trying to pack too much into one day or is this doable (If I get an early start)? Thank you all for your help, I'm excited about my visit this summer.

Hi there - if you really want to get the most out of a visit to Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, the King Richard III Visitor Centre and Leicester cathedral, I would recommend that you do this over 2 days. The Go Leicestershire website (we can't post links) should be useful in terms of accommodation etc.
I hope you enjoy your visit

I am a member of the Richard III Society in Sydney Australia and I will be visiting UK in August and would like to attend over the weekend of 19-20 August. How do I purchase tickets? I will be travelling alone and intend to stay in Leicester. I will need to start booking my plane, accommodation, etc. very soon so would like some further details please.

I'm not sure that the exact spot has been attributed yet and is on a private farm somewhere so I don't think it is open as a visitor site as yet. However Ambion Hill is close enough to the encampments and you can walk to Richard's Well. The Visitor Centre may have a map in shop with local public footpaths on but unless anything has changed recently you might need your welly boots to go across a wheatfield. Sorry I can't be much more helpful. However there is a lot of nice walking with history from the site. There is a history trail with armour, weapones and info whcih can be follewed from the Visitor Centre. You could also catch the steam railway fro, Shackerstone to Shenton Station and walk up to Ambion Hill, from where you can see all the fields for miles.

That was meant to be an answer not a question but put it in the wrong place.

I understand that the Ambion Hill site where the museum is located is not the actual battlefield site. I've heard conflicting reports as to whether or not one can walk from the Visitor Centre to the recently-discovered site of the actual battle. Could someone please clarify this for me?

Hi there - the viewpoint at Ambion Hill over looks the new site where we believe the battle of Bosworth was fought. This is on private land, so there is no public access to the site
During the week of the reinterment in March this year, we did run a series of guided tours to the site via minibus. At the moment there are no plans to run these again this year, but this might be something that we look at for next year
Kind regards

Is this location where Richard iii lost his life in battle ? And is it a self tour ?
Many thanks

Merci
Which is the best/easiest way to visit the Bosworth Battlefield/Heritage Centre and Leicester Cathedral and
City coming from London. We are three adults, not so young anymore and cannot walk too much...is there
no organised tour? Thany you
LCC_HeritageService
Leicester, UK
Hi there - unfortunately at the moment there are no organised tours taking in the 3 attractions you mention, so the easiest way to visit Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, Leicester Cathedral and the King Richard III Visitor Centre would be to get to Leicester first. You could then visit the King Richard III Visitor Centre to see where his mortal remins were found before going to the cathedral to see where he is buried.
From Leicester, it would probably be easiest and quickest to get a taxi to Bosworth Battlefield which would take about 45 minutes
I hope that helps with planning your trip
Kind regards
Mark
