We did a waterfall and river hike with Sacharuna Advernture in February on a visit to Tarapoto! It was a fantiastic day. Unfortunately we couldn't go on the day we had planned because the rains were too heavy but Daniel reschueduled for the following day and we had an amazing time. The hike is around two hours there and two hours back and you arrive at a waterfall in the middle of the jungle. Daniel was a great guide , telling us about the different flora and fauna on the way. When we returned we crossed the river four times which was very exhilirating. Would definitely recommend this hike for anyone visiting Tarapoto.

I have to say it was the best decision we made to choose Daniel as our tour guide in tata photo. We started our journey at 4 a.m. 2 a natural reserve called Tingana. When we arrived, we were greeted by Daniel crew with smiles and Assistance getting off the boat. We then went to a small area where we had a homemade breakfast. That was absolutely delicious. Homemade tamales with a Peruvian salsa and scrambled eggs Plus a really good strong coffee to start the morning. After we finished our breakfast we headed to the canoes where we started our Journey on a small canal. The sites were absolutely beautiful the trees growing into the water with the roots the orchids. And overall surroundings. The guides on the boats were very well educated on the sounds of the animals and birds. And we're also amazing at spotting them... which made it a lot easier for you to see them. A cool thing to is that the tour guides carry laser pointers with them so that way they point out where the animals are and you definitely have a better chance of seeing them before they take off. We were able to see monkeys, sloths, different species of birds and almost an otter. After our boat ride we headed back to the reserve for an amazing lunch. Chicken with rice and potatoes with homemade starfruit juice. It was simply amazing. After we finished lunch we headed back to our lodge in tarapoto. It was a full-day trip well worth it...the price was amazing as well and I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide. Daniel was super friendly spoke perfect English and knew a lot about the land and animals. It was definitely a great experience and I would do it all over again. I highly recommend Daniel and his team.

We spent several nights in the town of San Roque and felt immediately welcome throughout the community. Daniel is an extraordinarily kind and generous individual who made me (I'd never travelled to the jungle before) feel comfortable and safe. My partner and I hung out with Daniel in the Amazon River and in the living spaces of locals watching football. San Roque is a slice of heaven. I will absolutely come back to San Roque to visit Daniel and learn more about the Amazon plays in all aspects of life both in the immediate, surrounding, and, ultimately, global community.

My girlfriend and me booked a combination tour with this agency. First we were 2 days in Chazuta after that 1 day in Sant Roque and 2 days in Tingana. We read the good recommendations of Sacharuna Adventure and were excited to have a nice time. But now we are very disappointed because some points went completely wrong. So I can not recommend to book this agency. The value of money is absolutely unfair. I want give you a short review about our troubles with this agency: First everything was fine, we met Daniel at our Hotel and fixed the tour. But he told us he is maybe not available but he promised us he will provide us an other Englisch speaking guide. Next day - big surprise. Our guide was not able to speak English. His qualification is maybe A1. So he was only able to translate us the easiest things - with a lot of effort. So we got very less information from the locals during our hole adventure. Very sad for us because the locals were so friendly. I mean the guy tried hard but he was not qualified. And for the money we paid (~650 Dollars p.P.) is this unacceptable especially when the guy did this tour also for the first time. He had now idea about Cacao Processes or the landscape including their flora. Most of the time he act like he is also a customer, took photos with his camera and spoke for his interest with the locals and didn’t translate this conversations. One day it was raining and so we had to cancel the program. Due to the high costs I would expect a replacement program because we had to be the hole afternoon in our desert lodge. Also 1 dinner and 1 breakfast what should be included was not provided by them. Snacks and planned picnic lunches had not taken place. The program on the last day was very disappointed. The program was very short and the thermal baths were like a public swimming pool, so we decided to cancel. Moreover it is not the right time of the year for visiting the orchid center due to the fact that the flowers are not blowing. Daniel also said that it will be possible to help locals to harvest Cacau and to help during the process. We got a very short chocolate workshop what actually didn’t was a real workshop comparing to which one we made in Arequipa. But the most unpleasant thing was that he asked us to give a recommendation. I decided to give him first a personal one because actually I didn’t want to give a public feedback. Due to the fact that he was to proud to answer I decided to give a public one. Last I want to say that I would never book this agency again. Because the value of money and the responsible for promises is unacceptable.

If you're interested in learning about pre-Incan civilizations and seeing the lush beauty of the high jungle, I highly recommend a trip to Chachapoyas. This was our second trip with Daniel, and (as usual) he was fantastically patient and made sure we had a good time. Like our previous experience with Sacharuna Adventure (in Tarapoto), we consulted with him in advance and personalized our itinerary. Unlike other tour groups to the area, who visited multiple sites each day, making for an exhausting trip, we were able to space it out a bit and did one or two things each day. Daniel smartly planned the longest hike at the beginning of the trip, so that as time went on, we were able to relax and enjoy the time a bit more. We also greatly value Daniel's ability to respond to our needs/requests with patience... no matter how many times we visited the pharmacy, he was always willing to go one more time.
