Our room was located in the annex across the road and not in the main hotel, which was a disappointment, but the room was nice. The main hotel was lovely, quaint, and charming. The bar had the most hospitable server.

Food was acceptable, but felt more like carvery-esque than a la carte. Drinks also a smidge pricey, and not really the best selection ever. Place looks lovely from the outside, especially at Christmas time, but the interior doesn't really live up to expectations. The place does still have a certain charm though.

I chose the noise but didn't sleep too well. I did not dine in the restaurant but wish I had been able to - the menu... More

Called in here after a football match at nearby Matlock. It was around 10 pm on a Thursday evening and we just called in for a drink, never having visited this pub before, not being local to the area. On entering we were pleasantly surprised to find a lively bar area and an Irish folk group playing. A very good... More

Only serves food from Wednesday through Sunday lunch, so did not get a chance to review the catering. Friendly service and a good range of cask ales. One local even kindly drove my girlfriend and I to the Devonshire Arms to eat since all the near ones were not open. Thanks Bob!

Staff OK - a little more interested in the winter olympics than the customers (apart from the regulars) Food - the "Rutland Pizza" - was a little bizarre. A lot of cheese and a kind of bolognese topping on a naan bread Beer well kept and presented

The Rutland is a fantastic local pub. The food is great value for money and the beer is good. In the summer the garden is ideal. Nice and quiet and next to the river (watch the chickens though - they can be lethal ;o). If it had two high chairs rather than one and another hand pulled beer (Thwaites' Nutty... More
