What a little gem of a town/city. A lovely centro storico, a walk by the sea, a sweet old harbour and a beautiful old cathedral ( unfortunately not open when we were there). Easily accessed by rail from other coastal towns in Puglia.

Giovinazzo is really charm small town, it is very quiet during the day and full of life in the evening. Thera are hundrets of small narrow streets with local bars and restaurants and you are always 1 minute to seaside.
It has small local port that is full of small fisherman's boats not luxury yacht's as in most of towns so all arround you can eat great, fresh seafood.

I discovered the perfect gem of Giovinazzo while researching my family's roots. Lucky me! I have visited this lovely white stone town twice. Giovinazzo retains the gentle culture of small town Italy combined with modern comforts. Each time, We stayed at Il Porto di Mare B & B. In town we used the Volver al Mundo agency to book excellent side trips. Volver al Mundo connected us with a superb local guide, named Giovanna.

At Porto di Mare, the owners, treat us like family. They even helped my brothers arrange a fishing excursion and a found restaurant to prepare their catch.

Giovinazzo also has great train connections along the Adriatic Coast. The agency, Volver al Mundo, located on the square near the Municipal building, is run by English speaking women., The service is low-key and truly helpful. They connected us with Giovanna, a stupendous local guide for a Bari tour --on short notice.

GIOVANNA, led us on an extraordinary walking tour of Bari. So many of the Bariese in the old town knew Giovanna that they invited us in to view their kitchens--and a spritely older gentleman even revealed the "man cave" where the men get together to play cards for beer bids--(shh! its a secret.) After the Bari tour,Giovanna also suggested we take the train the view the cliff town of Polgniano al Mare. She took us to the station, gave us notes on the schedule, and checked on our progress via text. Giovanna's suggestions were marvelous, and we will always call on her to help us explore more of Pulglia when we return. She even texted us suggestions when we moved on to Florence!.

This charming old city and its port are really worth a visit. The lungo mare has recently been refurbished so you can walk south until you hit the port, walk around it and then into the old city. Lots of old palaces amongst the narrow streets. Great place to eat at night, especially in one of the outdoor places to see the lights on the old stone buildings.

Giovinazzo is a fortified town by the sea. Not big, it's a pleasant walk in its narrow streets. We had a coffee by the harbour and did some people watching.

What a lovely place. No tourists, a clear sea which is still beautifully warm, a great icecream store with phenomenal views. Coffee €1.50. Icecream €1.50. Wine €3.

Don’t get me started on how cheap the trains are

Loving it

Giovinazzo- who'd have thought?! Walk through the old town along the lungo mare or promenade to you and me and you'll get to about a mile or more of rocky beach front, where we had the loveliest time, plunging into clear blue sea, watching fishermen pounding octopus on the rocks, and just sunbathing with hardly a soul around. In mid October! Fantastic! So quiet, and really feels like a proper Italian town, no tourists... apart from us! Cheap to get to from Bari, only €1.40 by train. Fab holiday.

Absolutely stunning. Easily one of the most beautiful old towns in regional Puglia. We have been able to visit on numerous occasions and have always found it interesting. There is also one of the best pasticcerias called Giotti on via Bari. They serve the most amazing cakes. Also a bar called Bar Pugliese in the main square serves a fantastic iced coffee drink a nespressini... gotta try it.

Visited because we had a few hours before checking in our hotel and it did not disappoint. The place is beautiful with great views and lovely buildings. It has very few tourists, when compared to other similar places in Puglia. We had a great time!

The old centre is nicely restored, each and every house seems perfectly clean. The streets are nice to walk in. And, a sea promenade allows you to walk around the centre. Also enough restaurants can be found
