I was very excited to see the ceramics museum in Tlaquepaque. We walked to the site and found the building closed and a for sale sign on the property. Sad, really.

But there is never enough money in mexico to do things that we would like. It has great samples of the different types of ceramics that have been made in Tlaquepaque and tonala over the years. They have a kitchen set up the way my mother in law used to cook so I like to show that off to my... More

Located in the heart of Tlapapaque, across from the Bustamente gallery, is a peaceful respite from the crowds in the centro historico. Just meandering through the beautiful property and taking in the architecture, the doors, the courtyard etc was wonderful. The ceramics are a pleasant bonus. I collect piña' sand the selection displayed was mouth watering. Too bad they were... More

They went to this the first week in Dec. and the ceramic display was not there. I was looking forward to it Just wanted to let others know to take this off their 'to do' list.

This ceramics museum is on the pedestrian part of Independecia. It is free. The various types of pottery are beautiful, and especially fascinating were the miniature presidents of Mexico, I thought! There is also a gift shop.

If you go to one museum in Tlaquepaque, make it this one. There is a wonderful collection of Candelaria, Ken Edwards and some of the other real ceramic greats from the area. Everyone on the staff is knowledgeable, friendly, approachable and efficient. Wonderful building and grounds. Well-stocked and reasonable gift shop.

It's small and I only spent about thirty minutes here but it was an excellent thirty minutes. Beautiful pottery - absolutely amazing what people can create. And it's free. The building has neither air conditioning nor ceiling fans so if you're going during the summer I'd recommend going in the morning.

This is a free museum that's centrally located. Their collection is excellent and provides a great sampling of the artisans talent. I'm not a ceramic expert and was expecting a bunch of pots - however (as you may already know) there's a lot more to ceramic art than pots. Some of the figurines are amazing and the detail - very... Just a great example of the glorious artful talents of Mexicans and Mexican culture along with being housed in an ancient hacienda
