About
This stretch of beach on the eastern end of Laganas Bay is famous for its fine white sand and mountainous views. It's part of the Zakynthos Marine Park and is a nesting ground for the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles. If you're lucky, you might see the turtles nesting and hatching between May and October. Even though some areas are cordoned off and sea sports aren't allowed to protect the turtles, there's still plenty to do here. The shallow gentle waters are great for swimming and families, there are sunbeds for rent, plus restaurants and resorts. Go turtle spotting on a tour of Zakynthos, which also stops at Marathonisi (Turtle Island). – Tripadvisor

Beach was beautiful and enjoyed the environment at Cafe Sol. This was easy to access off the Kalamaki tram stop. Pebbly beach with a beautiful view.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024
- karen M11 contributionsKalamaki beachLovely beach and surrounding grass area near the taverna, beds are available €20 for two beds and an umbrella on the beach €15 for the same on the grass area. Good food at the taverna, toilets available as well. Nice to see that there are protected areas because of turtle nests and volunteers that go around checking the beach for new nestsVisited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 June 2024
- lewisGlasgow, United Kingdom17 contributionsSafeThis beach is turtle friendly so you if you dig a hole fill it back in. There are lifeguard towers and the water isn’t deep. The beach is long so lots of space. You need to pay for sun bed. If you go at night it is really dark and you won’t be able to get on the beach but you can go to the entrance and you can see the stars.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 July 2024
- Sulekha T8 contributionsLovely beach and Stayed within the Cape Sole areaA lovely beach. We stayed within the Cape Sol area of the beach. Service was good and the food and drinks were tasty. There was a DJ playing music so if you're looking for something a bit more quiet staying in a different area may be for you.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 July 2024

Nice pool bar just next to the beach, friendly staff.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 July 2024
- Ryan ACwmbran, United Kingdom44 contributionsStunning beach it's our paradiseLove this place so much. The shallow waters are great. Feed the fish with bread and small to large fish come up to eat which is amusing to watch. The man incharde of the sunbeds always remembers us as we have come for years. 15 euros for 2 beds and brolly is steep if you got a large group but it's worth it just being there. Can't wait to get back next year.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 August 2024
- mistaJakeSwanley, United Kingdom231 contributionsBest beach for familesThis is the best beach for families, as its really long with plenty of space. There are sunbeds if you wish to use for the day. From and 10 euros to 20 euros. The sea is very warm and shallow which means you can walk out for a long time.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 August 2024
- neave.florenceHertfordshire, United Kingdom29 contributionsBeautiful beachThis beach is beautiful. We have come here for 4 years, however this year the sea has had a lot of seaweed in it, I know this isn’t something that we can control and the further you walk along the beach the clearer the sea becomes so it’s not too big of an issue. The sunbeds on the beach cost 20€ for 2 so we brought a beach umbrella and sat on our towels on the sand instead. The water sports are brilliant here and I highly recommend the paddle boards as they are so fun! Overall Kalamaki beach is a beautiful place and I would suggest that anyone staying nearby should check it out!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 August 2024
- KatePenwortham, United Kingdom2 contributionsVery good day out on Kalamaki beach.I am so glad we went to Kalamaki beach. We very nearly didn't after reading the reviews. I can safely say there was no seaweed. We chose the private side and payed €45 for 3 sun beds. This could be considered pricey but we burn easily, even with suncream on so no umbrellas wasn't an option for the whole day. There were alot of staff around taking food and drink orders from the sunbeds. They were all very helpful and friendly. The food was very good. My daughter had a chicken burger, potato fries and salad for €12. Soft drinks were around €3, lager/beer from €7. I enjoyed the music playing from the bar. The sea was beautiful. Lovely to bob about in or have a nice swin. The beach is not sand, very small shells and stones, no problem walking on barefoot. There were family's with small children, groups of friends, couples and single people. The toilets were nice and good to get changed in. All in all a very good experience. We travelled from Athens on the A2 bus to Kalamaki. It stops right outside the entrance to the beach. One thing I didn't read on anything when googling travelling to the beaches by bus. Tickets are bought at the metro for €1. We got on the bus and asked the driver for a ticket, that's when we learnt we should of already bought them from the metro. He was very kind and said to get on and not worry about it. A great start to the day!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 August 2024

Rent 2 beds and umbrella on beach for 20euros or on the grass at Kalamaki taverna for 15. Plenty of beds. However went back and the weather had been fine all week so got the true picture wow what a fantastic beach shallow crystal clear warm sea that you could walk out for 100 metres so very safe for all the family. So please we went back

The beach is clean, well maintained. You don't necessarily need water shoes. We really liked the location, having sunbeds both on the sand and on the grass (we preferred the ones on the grass - more shade and more peace). I recommend you to sit on the left side of the Kalamaki Beach tavern (as you look at the sea). The guy who collects the money on the sunbeds (12 euros) is very helpful. He served us very quickly with everything we wanted. We ate on deckchairs on the grass in good shade. It was perfect. Very good food at decent prices.

Kalamaki Beach is one of our favourite beaches ever. You can walk to nearby Crystal Beach and the much further away Laganas Beach. There is a Taverna bar/restaurant on the beach. There are also other smaller bars and cafe huts along the beach. There are sun loungers and umbrellas available for Euro 10 for the day. There are pedalos and paddle boards available for hire. The beach is very clean. The sea is very shallow and stays shallow for quite a way out which is reassuring for families with small families. There are several life guard stations along the beach. The views are stunning but my favourite part of the beach is the Ionion Blue coloured clear water! If you are lucky, you might see a Loggerhead Turtle. They come to Kalamaki Beach to lay their eggs.

Nice beach. Umbrella rent costs 8 euros, the view is good, water warm and clean, everywhere dark sand.
First we got to a bit further end of the beach, it turned to be an fkk with a lot of stones an the bottom and rather dirty. Also there were aggressive signes on the stones of that part of the beach.
So it is really better to stay on the populated side.

I went to this beach as it was recommended as having free sun beds by our Villa manager who is local.
The restaurant here are clearly taking advantage as yesterday tge beds were €40 euros, however this was at 11.30 a.m adree we had enjoyed them for two hours and ordered 3 coffee’s. We thanked them politely and moved. Beach is nice enoigh, just dont visit thinking there are free beds snd bare in mind the restaurant makes up tge prices seemingly on a daily basis.

During our week in Kalamaki, staying at the Roseland hotel, we visited the beach every day bar one when we went on an island tour. Probably due to being early in the season the beach was not crowded and we felt very satisfied with all our visits. Kalamaki beach is excellent for swimming being shallow for quite some distance from the shore. Some of our group saw turtles swimming close to far end of the beach, the end furthest from Laganas, but, unfortunately, we didn't spot any on our visits. I would recommend it as a family beach with plenty of food and drink outlets either on the beach or very close to it.

About a 10 minute 10 euro can ride from Laganas town, this is a beautiful beach where the turtle come to nest in August. It’s therefore protected. Much more peaceful with a reduced Instagram vibe that Laganas thank goodness. Sea is safe shallow and clear. A couple of nice tavernas. The daily hire of the sun beds is cheaper at the taverna than the freelance guy on the beach incidentally

Great beach kept especially clean for the nesting turtles. The taverna offers an excellent choice of eat in or takeout meals. Be aware you are not allowed on this beach in the evening so as not to disturb the turtles

What a nice change to have a very clean sandy beach in Greece ,the sea was very clean too and could walk out for a distance and still quite shallow very child friendly beach . Sun beds and brolleys were reasonable too . Laganas was a 30 to 40 minutes away and worth a visit

The beach in Tsilivi is quite long, you can walk to Laganas and carry on walking to Cameo island through the sea. This is a lovely little island near to Laganas. The sea is about two feet deep but is worth it. There is a small charge when you finally arrive, but it’s beautiful and you can get a drink at the bar with your ticket. One of my favourite places of all time, great photo opportunities!

We had been in Kalamaki beach last week. The beach was nice but there are charges for using the sun bed. Out of our surprise my daughter got stung by a fish with two painful pointed holes on the thigh which was bleeding. Has anyone got similar experience?
Written 29 August 2024
I was there about 3 weeks ago, and i dont think they sting, but more nip/bite. If you seemed to stay still long enough and the water was still, they would come closer out of curiosity. If you go futher out to sea you didnt see many fish.

We go to Kalamaki so only know fare to there, but it won’t be expensive. If you’re on any of the Zante Facebook groups someone there will definitely know.

Hello, we stayed in kalamaki for a week in September and loved it!! As it was only a week we didn't really explore, except taking the fun train into Zante town. We have booked for 12 nights in july, so was wondering what would be recommended for a family with a 4 year old? I would like to do a boat trip, but not a day long one as I'm quite nervy in the sea. All recommendations appreciated . X thanks x

Hi I took my boys age 8 and 6 on the turtle spotting trip in the yellow submarine glass bottomed boat it was only half a day and they loved it. We visited a beach on the trip and it was nice to get away from our all inclusive hotel for a couple of hours. In evening we visited pandesia the Greek restaurant in Kalamaki was the highlight of our trip as food fantastic with Greek dancing, a fire show and my boys got to smash plates ! A great child friendly place. Have a great time away xx
