Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stunning wilderness with mile after mile of unspoiled coast. A large contingent of kite and windsurfers. Therefore it is windy. A sandbar sirts off the beach between a lagune and the Atlantic. A great walk that can be achieved by anyone willing to walk out. Water in the lagune is below knee level and the sand bar is easy to reach. A visit here is a must whichever part of the island you are staying.

Best beach on the island. So large, clean, far from the city, heaven on earth. You can see at the very far left some resorts and oasis that make you feel like you’re in Az or Nevada lol, impressive and good for photoshoots

It's great to spend a sunny day walking nude for hours along the beach. It can however be rather windy.

Even if you are not staying in the surrounding area if you have transport both Risco del Paso and Playa Barca are worth visiting....We always try and go when the tide is turning as the sight of the sandbars is just wonderful to see and it is lovely to walk through the water knee deep to get to the next sandbar as it is very safe....It is really good to watch the windsurfers on pools of water that are left behind by the tide.....we go and take a picnic lunch and just enjoy our time there......

If you visit Jandia I would totally recommend that you go to the beautiful beaches of Playa de la Barca and Risco El Paso. To be honest they are basically one beach but given the distances involved you can be forgiven for thinking of them as two. Playa Barca is the beach where the Melia Gorriones is situated and is the Kite Surfing beach. Risco El Paso is a mile further south and is the Windsurfer beach. In between is a huge expanse of beach backed with sand dunes known as the "lagoon" as the water comes over the surf line and backfill the whole area with water. If you time your visit about an hour before high tide you can watch the lagoon fill and walk/wade in water that is ankle to waist deep, lovely and warm and teeming with fish. A sandbank is created between the lagoon and the surf line which is a beautiful place to walk. Beware if you time it wrong you might have to swim back !!.
There is car parking and cafe facilities at both beaches.
100% recommended !.

Loved the golden colour of this beach. It was clean and did not have lava through it which made it easy to walk along. A car is necessary to access this area.

No comprise. You must see it through the whole day. According to the tide the beach become an impressionable laguna with the water deep just 30 to 50 cm.
The beach, by its own, it's not particular, but the entire beach with the lagoon is spectacular.
If you're not residing nearby consult before the tide calendar to get the best moments from the increasing tide to the maximum level.

We have been to this stretch of sandy beach many times and never get tired of going. It is often windy, hence the wind surf school and club there but if you get into a stone circle or into the dunes a little then it is very sheltered. You can walk for miles in the nude. The sea is great for swimming in as the beach is not too steep and stays quite shallow for a long way out at higher tides.Be careful if you are in the dunes as sometimes at high tide you can get a sudden high wave that swamps all the dunes and catches a lot of dozing sunbathers out! Quite funny to see though!

It is a very nice beach where you can see a lot of people practicing water sports and they offer a very nice colorful view on the water surface. For those who like these kind of sports it is a very good place to go to, they have a special area assign only for them. The beach is very large and even if there are a lot of people it doesn’t seem crowded and its appearance changes depending if the tide is high or low.

Dove consigli di alloggiare per essere comodi alla Playa de Sotavento?
Written 27 January 2016
per vivere le giornate veleggiando, il posto più comodo è risco del paso, ma non conosco se ci sono alloggiamenti;
