Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice beach for enjoyable walks. It is off-season, so that water is on the chilly side. We walked in a few times, and in one place walked out about 30 metres. Water is clean, but November-chilly.

Zhapo bay had some of the cleanest beaches I've ever seen in china.

So far, the area is still mostly undeveloped, although that may change in the near future. Our driver told us about the city's plans for extensive areas of condominiums to be developed overlooking the beach.

If you plan to visit, best to get there before the developers do!

Zhapo bay is a beautiful place to walk the beach and walk the towns Boardwalk , however for swimming is not foreigner friendly . They only allow you to swim in a small roped off area. Besides that it is a great place to visit.

Nice area. Kinda funny seeing people swimming in life preservers. Decent seafood restaurants in town. Clean beaches. Lots of new condos being built for the new Chinese middle class.

You won't be surprised, if you've been elsewhere in coastal China before - crowds of people during peak season, there's a barriers, limiting your swimming exercises (and spoiling the whole enjoyment) and a number of lifeguards, stopping you from crossing those bounds, huge queues to a changing rooms/lockers. Nothing fancy & would recommend this beach only in case if you need to kill some time on Hailing.

I visited the bay in December 2017 by taking bus from the Yangjiang bus station for about an hour. The fare was RMB12 and 10 for ticket bought manually and automatically respectively. However, you should not pay cash (either by Union card or alipay) for the latter. The bay was grand but wavy.

Five minutes from Zhapo Bay/Beach is Zhapo Fishing Harbor, an active and dynamic port for a range of fishing vessels. The locals are quite open to engage with westerners and the fish dishes served in the pier-front restaurants are as delicious as the beer is cold, and the beer came out with frost on the outside of the bottles. This is a great place for erstern travelers to get to know locals from third- and fourth-tier Chinese cities.

We drove around to Zhapo late one afternoon to look at the fishing village. We negotiated a 1hr boat trip on the large fishing junk for RMB200 although the small boats are also available for RMB80 - 100 per boat. The trip meandered through the endless boats moored in the port out past the endless fish farming pens towards Mawei island past Zhapo Bay Beach which was packed with swimmers and tourists. An interesting trip with plenty of restaurants to eat at on your return to the viillage.
