Worst thing I have ever paid money for. Very rude people and all round terrible experience. I felt the thing was a complete con from start to finish and fell let down by the people who work there.More

We were taken here on a day trip from Tauranga. The ride is thirty minutes each direction. A nice eating place is available during the 45 minute turnaround stop.

Everyone in Waihi and Waikino should take a trip on this heritage train. A quaint journey with friendly informative staff. Interesting museum to visit and learn more about the gold industry. Would recommend allowing at least 2 hours to do the journey and the museum....More

Absolutely the trail begins at waihi station from Waikino it begins over the river. A 5 min walk away. You can take bikes on the train.
