- Luckyleprechaun07London, United Kingdom34 contributionsLovely beach, beautiful water.Lovely beach, a small area if you just want to sit on the sand. Plenty of beach bars/sun beds if you want them stretching across most of the beach. Clear lovely water and soft silty sand make it a relaxing place. I personally just sat away from the beach bar on the sand and listened to the music.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 October 2023
- Mia K10 contributionsBeautiful, but beware of the restaurants on the beach!OK, so the beach here is beautiful. The vibe is very nice and calm, but the restaurants are total scams! You get a free daybed or cabana right on the beautiful water, but they only have one size extra large drinks. They charge you for seafood per gram and don’t tell you and it is just ridiculous. Crazy prices for mediocre food! There is a space on the beach where you can just sit without sitting on a daybed at a restaurant. Do that and save your money! This would all be fine if they were more transparent. BEWARE!Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 May 2024
- Alcir Rosa FreireRio de Janeiro, RJ45 contributionsWonderful beach, but be careful when chosing where to relax! The beach is fantastic, white sand and calm, clear water. We could see little fishes surrounding our feet and legs. From there we took a water-taxi that took us to other beachs by the sea. But the experience was not perfect because we were maliciously and expensively deceived at the beach area of the Mykonos Kosmoplaz Beach Resort. Avoid it! We were arriving at the beach and a waiter offered us two sun beds and un umbrella on the sand, saying it would be free of charge if we just order a drink per person. But at the end they charged us over 300 euros for a couple of drinks ("caipirinhas") and a portion of squid rings. Before me at the line for the Cashier I've heard another customer complaining with the man in charge for the same reason. It was our first experience at the beach at Mykonos. But luckily, next day, we were delighted to pay a half of that amount at a real beach club ("SantAnna" at Paraga beach), for a gorgeous day-stay with drinks, pool and lunch! A painful lesson of the famous "Cheap is Expensive".Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 May 2024
- RodrigoNew York City, New York75 contributionsBeautiful PlatisOne of the most convenient and beautiful beaches on the South shore of Mykonos. You can come here for the day and enjoy clear blue waters. There are many restaurants that offer great casual dining. They rent beach loungers and umbrellas as well. - LillekitteSollentuna, Sweden215 contributionsVery nice for a beach day - but choose beach club wiselyWe are staying near Ornos beach, and wanted to spend a day at a different beach (south coast). 2 adults (50:s), 4 ”kids” 18-23. We had a hard time choosing which beach to go to, as most of the beaches have some really bad reviews, and also we wanted to book sunbeds ahead. Someone recommended Platis Gialos Beach - which we had already ruled out based on reviews (scams, loud music, overly crowded…) - but they also specifically recommended Yialo Yialo Beach Club as better than most other beach clubs there. We really enjoyed this beach! The water was very calm and clear and a beautiful color. Lovely, soft sand and nice view. Some nice restaurants and a small supermarket. But choose beach club carefully! Yialos Yialos (around the middle, beige umbrellas) I can warmly recommend: You can book ahead. Comfortable sunbeds at a reasonable price (€50 for a set of 2 beds + umbrella, plus € 5 per towel unless you bring your own), friendly and service minded staff, and nice ambience in the beach restaurant, where we had a lovely lunch. But on this beach, to the right, you also find dk Oyster, which seems to have a very bad reputation. And to the left, there were 2 clubs competing in who could play the loudest, most annoying music, from around lunch time. One was called Branco, the other I don’t know the name of - but see pictures below. Some might love this, but some people there looked quite miserable…Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2024
- Heather H6 contributionsGreat, friendly, not expensive. Beach doesn’t rip you off. Many of the beaches in Mykonos will not allow you just to rent one beach chair. They want to rip you off and make you pay for two chairs at €50 each plus a €50 minimum spend. This beach did not do that. I had a wonderful day there , Only paid €30 for one beach chair and ate at the Greek restaurant right on the beach. Fantastic day!! I took the bus from Fabrika bus station in Mykonos town for two euros, super easy to get to super friendly party atmosphere but chill .Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 6 August 2024
- DavidUnited States12 contributionsYialo-Yialo is the place to go!Our family of four (two adults, two 13 and under) chose this beach because it was a short bus ride from old port and mentioned being good for families. When we arrived we walked onto the small boardwalk that leads across the beach area through restaurants and past shops. The first place tried to sell us two beds and an umbrella for 120€. We laughed and moved on. As we approached the second set of sunbeds - attached to the Yialo-Yialo restaraunt - a gentleman named Giovanni approached and told us the other places were crazy and his two beds were 40€ flat. We thanked him and moved on thinking there was a catch, but we didn't get far before we turned around and took him up on the offer. The beds and umbrella worked well each with a small wooden lockbox for purses, etc. and a small table. They were playing classical Greek folk music which was excellent and we ate from the lunch menu which was decent. A lifeguard was directly in front of us on duty and watching over everyone. Prices were slightly high, but that's to be expected. The food being served at Yialo-Yialo looked professionally made and tasty, but we didn't eat there. The Yialo-Yialo staff was friendly, but busy, A small supermarket shop next door had a friendly guy with decent prices on supplies. He said it was OK to buy a beer there for 3€ and enjoy it at our seat, which I did and had no issues. Overall, we had a great time, enjoyed the beach, the atmosphere, and the lunch. Wear sunscreen! A relaxed beach and short strip of restaurants, hotels and beach bars many of which are very welcoming, reasonably priced and well appointed. Not a showy beach and more relaxed but still quite smart which varies evenly between fine pebbles and sand so easy to walk on. Music can be heard but not at an invasive volume. There are also various water sports clubs offering various activities.

The beach is sandy and along the back are a series of tavernas who offer sun beds (a set of two beds and an umbrella will cost 30 Euros plus a commitment to have lunch in their restaurant). The beach shelves gently and the water is clear and clean. There is a lifeguard on the beach. The beach can get noisy as the tavernas pump up their music particularly during the afternoon

After visiting SantAnna we decided to go for the less expensive option for our other days on the beach.
There are lots of restaurants which offer sunbeds for hire. Various prices. Don’t be fooled by the glamour of DK Oyster, read the reviews on here and avoid being conned!!
We twice got beds at Yialo Yialo, €10 per person including umbrella. Comfortable beds, good service - you can get drinks and food from their restaurant (beach service) or take your own with you.
We ate in Yialo Yialo one day, great food and packed restaurant. On another occasion we ate in Anios which is next door, also good but not as busy.
The bay is less windy, beautiful clear water. Watersports available although we didn’t get involved.
A great alternative to the more pricy beach clubs, we’d definitely recommend.

Nice beach. BUT ... you have to use the sunbeds from one of the private beach bars, and it's a tourist trap of the worst kind. The place in front of The Eclipse Restaurant told us chairs were free when buying drinks. We ended up paying 210 euro for a Mojito, an Aperol, two juices and a bottle of water. AND they charged themselves af 35€ tip on top of that, which I unfortunately didn't realise in time. What an awful and shameless way to do business :(
I recommend going to a different beach. And always make sure to get very specific information about prices.

Visited Mykonos in 2013 and 2017, Platis Gialos was our favourite beach. It's always been rammed with sunbeds but it is a lovely beach and did have a lovely relaxed vibe, also great for families. We've recently returned and had such a shock, come lunch time no matter where you are on the beach you get the pounding nasty noise from the restaurants/bars in the middle. It's so loud you can't escape it and its just pounding noise no actual music which makes it even worse. Staff are also hounding you to use their sunbeds etc when you walk past them.
Be warned Yialos Yialos claim to only charge 15 euros each for sunbeds but then casually let you know that on top of that must also spend at least 30 euros each on food and drink so that's makes your beds really expensive.
We chose to use the sunbeds at the far end, they were 60 euros for a set but there was no minimum spend, the beds were much more spread out and staff were really lovely. No nasty noise from their restaurant but the whole beach was drowned out with it from the others. We wont be returning but it's because of the awful noise from the restaurants in the middle and not the beds we used. Such a shame, used to be such a nice relaxing beach.

This place is worse than terrible. I was suspicious when we saw the menu had no prices. When I asked for a menu with prices, the waiter spewed a litany of double talk. When I asked again, he got angry and tried to tell me the food is the best, the chef is the best, and I am lucky to be served. We served him a very polite good day and left.

We stayed nearby & although the beach is lovely in the day it’s just too crowded all sun loungers on the beach are taken by lunchtime so need to get there early. There’s a small public section but too many people to layout in Aug.
The beach is small stones so quite nice to not get covered in sand. The sea is lovely & clear.
There’s several bars/tavernas for all budgets, most of which own the loungers on the beach so pick wisely.

Crystal clear sea, white sand. Even if there is wind the sea is very calm. There are several establishments: the most honest is the Avli (sea behind, first right, near the marina). 40 euros an umbrella and 2 sunbeds, including towels, additional chairs at 10 euros and no obligation to consume at the restaurant (which has honest prices). The only flaw: the bathroom closes at 17:30 because it turns into a restaurant. Se siete a Mykonos non potete non vedere questa spiaggia stupenda!!!

This is a great beach for everyone, from the very young to the old ones, for singles and families. Lots of bars and restaurants offering reasonable prices for the beds and umbrellas. The sand was a little coarse but ok. The water is excellent, very clean and pretty calm when there is no wind.
Unfortunately, when we were here , there was a ban on music in Mykonos so everything was depressingly quiet. I hope this was just for a shot, sad few days and it will not repeat itself.

Most of the beach is open to just putting down a towel. The area next to the umbrellas is perfect. No charge. DM me with your email address and I'll send you a picture of the beach I took last August that shows how open it is.
