The promenade next to the ocean is closed to traffic from 6pm-7:30am and its a wonderful place to go for people watching. You can also go early for sunrise, but at any time there are just so many people walking, jogging, hanging out and just enjoying themselves. There is also a 24hr coffee shop. It is peaceful, friendly and safe.

Wonderful beach where in you can enjoy the waves hitting to the rock but can't get into water. For some distance of the beach there are lot of big black rocks hence called rock beach. The promenade is located close to the beach. Very good place for evening sit out. There is mini Chat Street located just beside the beach... More

It was windy when I visited the place. Hence the sun did not bother me much. I took a long walk along the seaside road during day time and it was perfect. We ended up in a seaside cafe and sipped some tea enjoying the view of waves lashing at the rocks in the shore. But when we returned the... More

Cool place to enjoy both sunset and sunrise. Sunrise is especially spectacular. The road by night is breezy and free from vehicles. Many restaurants and cafes nearby

Great for a walk in the evening since the road is closed for vehicles after 6 pm. Also, a great place for a really morning walk to see an amazing sunrise. The place also has a 24 hour cafe run by the government....a nice place to sit and enjoy the sea view.

My partner and I walked from our hotel through the busy streets and made our way to the biggest Ghandi statue I've ever seen. Got pictures and saw the beach. It was really wonderful and well worth doing if you are in Pondicherry.

The seaside promenade is a long walkway that runs along the length of the town and borders the sea. The wind blows in your face and it is indeed a highlight of the town.

The Promenade is one of the cleanest places I have walked along in India. No smoking or drinking along the Promenade and no traffic during the evening. The buildings are pretty and its always fun to people watch

The promenade is undoubtedly the best part of our visit in Pondicherry. We walked here every single sunset and it was so romantic. What was nice was also the community feel as everyone was out to enjoy a beautiful walk with their family, friends and loved ones. We also did something very unusual such as wake up at 6am to...
