I visited Serenity Beach during the evening and the way to go to the beach is quite narrow which sometimes leads to traffic congestion. The beach seems to be a place for fishing as there were a lot of boats around and it had the typical fish and sea smell. I would prefer other beaches if there is an option.

It’s not really a beach like any other. It’s a fishing village and you will find boats on one half of the beach and then there is this walkway made up of stones. The other side is a small clean beach but no shacks or anything to sit and relax. I would say it’s a nice place to relax for the local families who need a quick break from the daily chores and spend some time with the kids having fun splashing in the water.

It was very crowded too given the last week of December but otherwise I would say it could be pretty secluded. If you are visiting Auroville then this is like a 15 mins drive.

From a tourist perspective it’s totally missable.

Serenity Beach one of the beautiful beach in Pondicherry. A lovely landscape of sea. Stonebridge is add on gift from God. We also find some seashell here. Wave is good to bath but carefully about it. Because there is no lifeguard. We visited during weekday so few persons was there and beach is calm and peaceful. There are some hotel and restaurant on the shore. You may face difficulties to parking car. The beach is closing time 6 PM.

Located off ECR in the Kottakuppam Area, this is not exactly a tousist spot but rather a fishing village. The beach, as such, is peaceful and it is possible to enter the waters. The access road from ECR is quite narrow. Plenty of scope for improvement if this is to be developed as a tourist attraction

Good spot for sunrise view at Pondy. Just hope that it is cloud free sky at the time of sunrise. Also the road which takes you to the shore/Beach is quite narrow and be prepared for parking challenges. It will ve hassle free if you take a driver for your vehicle

The beach could be so much better, it is not very clean. The stone pier is well done. There are lots of options to surf there, although I only saw one person doing so. The sea was quite rough when I was there and virtually nobody was venturing in - but perhaps on a calmer day day it might be much better.

The beach is part of a local fishing village, which means that the fishermen, old and young, use this beach as their toilet. If you see Indian men wearing a lungi (skirt) squatting where the waves reach the land, they are pooping there, and the poop is washed into the sea. Perhaps it is no problem for the Indian visitors who don't soak their feet in the water, but it looks like a shocking picture for Europeans who go to the beach to swim. Sunbathing is out of question because of the harassment of women. Therefore the Europeans go a few km northwards to the beach of Sri Ma of Auroville where one can swim and find real SERENITY.

After reading the good and bad reviews I thought it can't be that bad and looking at the photo's it looked very nice well it is not. Wee packed up for a day at the beach, took a tuk tuk from the hotel R300 and he said he would wait for us. On arrival I was shocked at what we saw, piles of garbage dirty beach, it was scalding hot and no place for shade. A few people playing in the waves and a few people sitting on the beach. Our day at the beach turned into 30min then we took the tuk tuk back to the hotel..
see my photos of the garbage on the beach.

Excellent beach without attention given to tourism. There are no good restaurants on this beach. The beach is very beautiful and safe. Even a non-swimmer can go upto 500 mtrs inside sea.

Unfortunately this beach is mainly a place for the local fisherman to drag their boat up on.. The smell is due to heat and rotting fish. Not the kind of beach you would go to relax in your swim attire.. Must understand this and appreciate it for what it is..
