I was a little cynical about this experience since I usually try to avoid the most touristy attractions in town. But, on a rainy day, with nothing better to do, I decided to join the boat trip. I'm so glad I did as the Phong Nha Cave is utterly stunning. The formations on the ceiling beat out the Sistine Chapel... More

The cave was reached by boat trip along the Son river. The stalactimes and stalacmites inside were really beautiful and impressive

We went there by motorcycle from Dong Hoi very easily. The ticket costs 150000 dong pp. The boat which can be shared among 14 people costs 360000 dong. Very good. Don't join tour groups as they charge too much. Our hotel quoted 930000 dong pp, which was crazy.

The phong nha caves were absolutely amazing, definitely worth the stop in Dong Hoi. One of the best bits of Vietnam

It was so peaceful inside the caves. There were about 30 people today in 3 separate groups (and we were all staggered by about 30 minutes) They are massive and breathtaking. Highly recommended. The guide said sometimes large organized tour groups sometimes come in and can be very loud and disrespectful inside. He said on a high season weekend, it... More

Stunning! One of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Would come back to Vietnam to explore more caves.

I did the trip as individual traveler. After signing up at the admissions desk I had to wait for some other travellers to share a boat. After 30 mins we were 10 ppl and the tour was less than 200k Dong. After a 30 min boat ride you reach the cave entrance and the diesel engine is shut down. The... More

Started our trip at easytiger hostel/restaurant listening to a free talk on all the activities and trips you can do in the area (would highly recommend this) at the end of the talk we got into groups of people who want to visit the cave and wondered down to the boat yard, the boats are 360,000 dong which means the... Went in November rainy season and all the caves were closed. Even the town was flooded. Had to wait two days until it was reopened. If you looking for the extended trip where you venture further in (including paradise cave), you might need to wait another two days without any rain.
