Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can almost feel the history when you walk in. It is very solemn but peaceful and it is wortwhie visiting if you are in Sete.

Situated across the road from the vantage point, this small church has an interesting shape and interior. I thought it was worthwhile.

If arriving at Toulon by cruise ship most large cruise ships end up docking at La Seyne Sur Mer. Its only a 10/ 15 min or so boat transfer back to Toulon but transfer is not free (Celebrity in May 2019 charged $25 per adult for return ticket). To avoid this go if possible to a "taxi" (blue boats) which have 3 or 4 pick up points (we would have to go about 500 yards from ship (out of port turn right then walk back to pick up point) for a 2 euro (single) fare.Check out details of these port taxi boats as it could save you money.

It was very special, interesting and unique of its own. Accompanied from a local guide, we were told a general story of the Church and then we saw the murals and paintings. They were very special - full of portraits and mosaics of fishermen, fishes, sirens (don't recall too well this). And then was the "dome" of thank-givings.
Worth visiting when in Sete and a must, for sure!

Superb little church with lovely frescos, personal dedications and very warm atmosphere. A working church but steeped in history. Somewhere to find something special within.

We came here to celebrate Easter 2017 with our 14 year old daughter, and had an absolutely wonderful time. This is the most beautiful place to come on pilgrimage, and I have travelled all over the world!
The accommodation is simple, almost monastic, the food is good and the people are lovely. This place is as close to HEAVEN
as I can imagine.
Our Blessed Lady's presence is felt so strongly and I enjoyed beautiful Holy masses here.

Lovely little church at the top of Mont. St. Clair. It is quite a steep hill so I would advise driving (there is a car park). The view of Sete is stunning, go at the right time and you may be rewarded with a fabulous sunset.

This is situated at the top of mont saint clair. (Very steep hill). It is a small church but pretty.
The view alone from the top is amazing . So if your not too impressed with the church you will be by the spectacular views.

Sete was the one port I hadn't researched before getting there. Sete is one location I plan to return to and spend several weeks exploring. It is a cultural bastion, little heard from when France is mentioned. And a secret I am sure the locals would like kept! The walk up the Mont St-Clair will be a challenge of the unfit. There is a bus - no. 5 - to the top. Each church I have visited has it's own character and this one is no exception. Tied to the sea, it celebrates it's origins in the whale industry -cetacean - Sete - so a local tells me as we hiked down a steeper back stairway. The views are outstanding and one can only see the positive future growth of this tiny locale.

I am a tourist from India and planning to visit this Church with my family when in Sete (our port of call) in June.
With all due respect, is there a dress code that needs to be followed when visiting this church? Are dresses with scarves fine?
thank you

We are visiting Sete on a cruise at the end of October. Please give me details of the bus that we can take to the Notre Dame de La Salette. Which number and where do we catch it from in Sete? My knees aren't up to the walk up the hill.
Thanks
Janet

I have bad knees and wouldn't be able to manage the walk up. What transport options are available, including a public bus? Where do we catch it? We'll be visiting from a cruise ship in late October 2016.
