About
Humpback whales, Orca's, Spermwhales and Finnwhales are frequently close to Andenes. We went there to visit the Spermwhales in a RIB. We were so exited because of the boattrip as the whales aswell. After a 30 minute boattrip the captain found the whales and we went to them. And it was so special to see these big friendly animals in real life. There was a group of 5 Spermwhales and one of them was so curious about the boat that he came to us. We really had the chance to see the Spermwhales very well and we made great pictures! Close to the harbour we visited a group of seals who where resting on a little island. Although not as impressive as the whales they where very cute (and much bigger then I thought) We were in Andenes in March and we will come back in januari when the Humpbackwhales and the Orca's are back!!!

Highly recommended whale safari
Aug 2020
We booked a whale safari tour at seasafari Andenes and are very happy with this decision! Eventhough the tour on our orginally booked date was cancelled because of to much wind, the team was very eager to enable any alternative. The captain went out the lighthouse and checked a spot if it would be possible go there instead. We had the opportunity to wait until his decision or postpone the tour to another day. Because we planned the safari on our first day at the Vesteralen (recommended!) we were able to have a next try a few days later. Unfortenately the whales dived under just as we arrived. But instead of turning back to the harbour, the team decided to take a detour to the bird island where we were able to watch hundrets of puffins and five sea-eagles. It was amazing! Because of the failure regarding whales the very friendly woman of the management gave everything to enable us a next try the next day, which was our last day there. This time we could see 2 sperm whales, which was magnificent. I had a lot of questions and every team member gave its best to answer them.
I was a bit scared to become sea sick, but the boats are very good to do those trips! You can actively go with the waves, which was helpful against sea sickness and a lot of fun. It is a great experience to stay really close between the waves far out in the arctic ocean. We saw the boat of the other provider, which was so heavily fluctuating, so that I was very glad with the decision for the RIBs.
We highly recommend Sea Sea Safari Andenes and would like to thank the whole team to enable such Once-in-a-Lifetime experiences!

We saw 15 whales and thousands of birds
May 2020
The skipper traveled long and far away to find the whales, and we did! Saw lots of whales, and with a midnight sun trip we got some great photos :)

We had a combo trip and also went to the bird mountain at Bleik, and saw lots and lots of puffins as well as at least 10 eagles.

Great experience, great staff!

Be aware, though, the RIB boats aren't comfy, especially not for long trips or if you have back issues. Put on more clothes that you think you need, even if you will get a survivor suit.

Exciting in open waters
Jul 2020 • Family
We had a great experience going out to sea in this beautiful place with a very nice crew. The whales had gone hiding but we saw lots of puffins and other birds and had a good time in the waves. We’ll be back for the whales!

Great trip by professionals
Feb 2020 • Couples
We were able to see sperm whales (experienced three dives, and was able to take a great picture of the tail) and killer whales/ocras several times during our trip. We felt safe all the time and were served soup, coffe and tea afterwards. The temperature was +3oC, and I wore two layers of wool on my lower body and four layers on my upper body. Remember to bring mittens and a hat.

Very disappointing
Dec 2019
Honestly, it felt like they just cared about the money. They should have informed that December is not the best month to go when I asked on beforehand - too dark, problems for the camera to focus etc. At the site, they ask if you want to snorkle or just observe - which is a major price difference. When you ask them what possibility it is to snorkle, they just shook their shoulders. On Saturday Dec. 14th, we were 11 that paid for snorkelling, and did not get in. On Sunday 15th, we were just a few, and none of us paid for snorkelling. Lucky, because we didn't see any Orcas that day (only whales) and it was dark with too much wind. We did not even get the wonderful soup they advertised on the internet. And they have not yet informed on their website that the snorkelling is much more difficult to do now after the new strict rules from the Fishery departement - which came out December 9th, this year. You are not supposed to snorkle closer than 750 meters from a fishboat, fishnet etc.

DISAPPOINTED: NO LADDER to come back on the boat! So you have no energy to jump all the times and you miss the right one
Nov 2019
There is NO LADDER to come back on the boat after you jump into the sea, so after one or two dives you are really exhausted and you have no forces to jump all the remaing times. This lack really disappointed a lot of us because you need to jump all the possible times (3 or more) to have enough chances to see orcas under water.
Since the cost of the trip is not low, the missing of the ladder is unexcusable.

In fact, in 4 days:
1st and 4th day: no orcas nor humpbacks seen in the fiords (neither from the boat nor under water).
2nd day: orcas and humpbacks seen from the boat and 1 humpbacks under water from the few having forces to jump at the 4th dive.
3rd day: orcas and humpbacks seen from the boat, and 5 orcas all together under water from the few having energy to kump the 3rd time.

I (and other guys there on those days) feel angry because if the staff had simply provided one ladder we would have had enough energy to jump all the times and a lot of us would have swum with orcas.
Its missing also excludes possible elders to join the trip and this is not written on the website.
We expected a better service (also wetsuit was too big to swim and cold water entered inside) and maybe less marketing.

I would like to come back to retry but it is illogical because if you are not able to jump into the sea all the times just because there is no ladder, your chances to swim with animals are really low and it is not worth the cost and the efforts.

The trip was cancelled
Aug 2019 • Family
Booked a whale watching trip, a day before the trip which was scheduled for today, they contacted me and told me that due to the weather, the trip is cancelled. They ask me if I want to rebook for another day or a refund. Due to time restrictions, we went for a refund. Good service and great communication, unlike like the other operator, whale watching, they were very rude to me.

A must-see in Andenes
Jul 2019 • Family
We have taken a tour twice with this company. Both were very well organized and we got what we expected: sperm whales, puffins, eagles and seals. But remember, the company doesn't control the weather so due to high winds the trip might be cancelled for safety reasons. Weather conditions permitting you get a chance to see majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Don't forget your woollen hat and mittens!

Expectations were not met
Jul 2019 • Friends
The Midnight sun journey was confirmed on July 8, 2019. We arrived at the agency at the appointed time, but the agency was closed and did not respond to phone calls. We waited more than an hour, no one called us back. The day was ruined, a complete disappointment. We arrived at the agency the next day. The administrator argued to us that we were notified of the cancellation of the tour, but we did not receive any notifications.
