About
Humpback whales, Orca's, Spermwhales and Finnwhales are frequently close to Andenes. We went there to visit the Spermwhales in a RIB. We were so exited because of the boattrip as the whales aswell. After a 30 minute boattrip the captain found the whales and we went to them. And it was so special to see these big friendly animals in real life. There was a group of 5 Spermwhales and one of them was so curious about the boat that he came to us. We really had the chance to see the Spermwhales very well and we made great pictures! Close to the harbour we visited a group of seals who where resting on a little island. Although not as impressive as the whales they where very cute (and much bigger then I thought) We were in Andenes in March and we will come back in januari when the Humpbackwhales and the Orca's are back!!!

Great tour. Had a good dialogue the days before about weather conditions and our options. We had a great afternoon on the water and saw both pilot whales and sperm whales. Like the fact that research is also done during the trip. Nice personal tour with max 12 people and the RIB boat gives you a close connection to the whales. Yes the water can be a little rough but we took a sea sick pill before and had no issues at all.

The staff were extremely helpful and informative throughout the trip. They worked hard to make the experience enjoyable and that the whole group had fun. We loved the RIB boat trip out to the whales so much fun in itself. Over the 2 1/2 hours we were out at sea we were able to see dolphins razorbills and some incredible sperm whales. A truly unique experience which we highly recommend.

The rib boat experience was excellent. The team searched hard to find the whales and after 2 hours found 3 sperm whales. Although we were in the boats longer than expected, the Whale2Sea team went the extra mile to find us the whales.
I also didn't get sea sick on the rib boat!

Everything was booked for 2days in advance, so we changed our whole roadtrip plan and stayed in Andenes for 2 extra days just to go whale watching. Upon arrival at the booked trip, we were informed we in fact DO NOT have a booking despite making a reservation, putting our names on the list and having gotten a confirmation email. We were quickly ushered aside and told to "wait to see what they can do". We waited 3 hours just to be dissappointed in the end and the VERY UNPLEASANT lady (who has made the reservation 2 days ago) told us "I was hoping someone would not show up for their trip". WHAT THE HELL, REALLY. It broke my heart, this is why we came to Norway in the first place. The lady was very rude, didn't say sorry ONCE or apologise. Whole vacation RUINED! :(

Right from the planning of the trip to its execution, team Whale2Sea was very helpful and accommodating.
A special thanks to Ms Lille who was very helpful with the planning of the trip.
The boat trip was exciting and safe. We were provided all the waterproof thermo suit and life jackets for the trip and also briefed on the safety measures.
We were accompanied by a marine biologist Ms Tui who explained all about different types of whales and their habitat and their sightings in this area.
She tracked the movement of a sperm whale with hydrophone and we had a thrilling and magnificent sighting of a sperm whale from a safe distance.
Thank you team Whale2Sea.

The experience of seeing the finwhales was awesome and the guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Also the skipper was really trying to make our return journey in a rough sea as smooth as possible. Credit to them both. However the materials supplied to keep us warm and relatively dry were totally inadequate. The thermo savety suits where not even waterproof and after 4 hours on the arctic sea, we were drenched to our underwear and really cold.

My husband were not sure what to expect when we booked. But we had the best experience. Sean our guide was super nice and put everyone at ease, we didn’t feel hurried or as though we were on a conveyor belt of in and off as quick as possible. Sean was extremely knowledgeable and has a passion for whales and that came across, out on the water they were respectful to the whales. We saw Orcas and a Sperm Whale and sadly a dead whale. I would definitely recommend going with Whales2Sea, we had a great time. Also a special shout-out to the lady behind reception, she was brilliant, helpful and friendly.

Excellent whale watching trip. Saw a huge number of pilot whales (80+) on a fantastic, sunny day.
Shaun who took the trip was knowledgable and friendly.

I did a whale watching + snorkeling experience with this company in Skjervøy, January 2023. We were lucky to see orcas and humpback whales feeding on the herrings. It was an amazing experience. Even though it is not the first time I do whale watching, I always get excited. Also, since it was the 21st of January, there was the first sunrise of the year and it made everything even more special.
However, I have some suggestions for the company and the customers as well. I suggest people to bring a towel in case they get wet during the whale watching and/or the snorkeling, a waterproof small bag, extra clothes and warmers for feet and hands if you think you might need them. It can get very cold because of the wind and the unpredictable weather conditions.
To the company: I suggest you to give people some goggles. This time they weren’t necessary, but last year I got unlucky with the weather and they were needed.
Also, I really suggest you to give dry-gloves (instead of humid ones) with the dry suit for the people that want to snorkel. I had a pretty bad time with my hands that were freezing, I was afraid of getting frostbite and I had to leave the water after a few minutes, so I didn’t enjoy much the snorkeling (nor in quality or in duration). Since it is an expensive experience, I wasn’t very happy about this part. I probably have a worse circulation than others, but it is always better to go with the best available equipment. Also, I am not sure if you are equipped to help people in case they get in trouble or get too cold. Don’t forget we are in extreme weather conditions, in the sea and far from the town: it is needed to solve the problems still onboard when possible, and even people that are used to the cold can have difficulties.
Apart from that, it is always a pleasure to see the whales and get to talk with the guides, that are always very nice and passionate about marine mammals.

Hola!

I cannot get in touch with the operators. I was wanting to make a trip from Tromso to andenes to Snorkel with the Orcas. I was wondering if anyone knew how to reach them. Also, how successful are the snorkel trips? Looks like a lot of people had to stay multiple days. I can only have 2-3 days in Andenes. Any pointers would help. Thanks

Hi , not sure how to call direct to them , we went in February booked through a agent , seeing and snorkelling is very much weather related , we were lucky enough to see orcas and sperm whales and got to snorkel with the orcas , but quite a few days were lost due to bad weather , you can do it all in a couple of days if weather is ok
