Beautiful little temple with replica altars. Peaceful and contemplative. Some people still leave offerings for Mithras!

We stopped here to walk the dog as we were passing by anyway as we had been at Vindolanda. Easy to find and a short walk from the carpark but not worth a special trip.

What a great little site - very small but a good info board and a good quality of ruin to see. And free to get in. Just a parking charge to pay. Very good

Lovely little semi subterranean temple with replica alter pieces (originals are in Newcastle museum). Worth the visit for the great impression it gives of Roman occupational practice. The fact you don’t have to pay is a real bonus in these days of austerity sand wage...More

As the others said, this is a very small site, but still quite interesting to have a little gander. This petite temple was dedicated to Mithras, and with a little imagination it's not hard to picture a mystic temple sunken in the bosom of the...More

Its free, so you might as well go! Very tiny, but interesting anyhow. You get to walk through an interesting field of very huge sheep.

This is a surprising interesting place on the way from Chollerford to the Housesteads. It is well worth a stop to look at the carvings /alters (even if these are not the originals) and a welcome break in the trek.

A nicely presented excavation. You are directed to it if you are walking the wall but if you use the car park it can't be seen untill you have gone over the remains of the fort.

Original trip advisor location incorrect - this is 3 miles from Chesters Fort. Situated a 3 min walk from a good car park (cost £1) it’s an interesting insight into what the actual lay of the land would have been without modern changes, and you...More

A beautiful temple but the english heritage page has little to say about it. Please read a little about the "soldiers god" before you visit, as this site will then make much more sense. We loved it.

Hi Hannah the Mithras Temple is not a hotel! at least not the one I reviewed. The Mithras Temple (I think there is a spelling mistake on Trip Advisor) is a small area in the middle of a soggy field/s just off the main... More
