Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are other ways to get to Genting Highland Resort Hotel - by private car/taxi/Grab, by bus, or by Cable Car. I highly recommend you try the Cable Car. It has these going for it - it is cheap (USD2.00-3.00), you get a fantastic view of the Genting forests along the way that you cant get any other way, it is fast, it is convenient and it is much more fun than sitting in a car/bus.
This is one of the world's longest cable car ride and one of the fastest. Dont worry, it is absolutely safe, the facility is well maintained.

This cable car network is a marvelous way to travel between Genting Awana, the Genting Premium Outlets Shopping Mall on the lower part of the hill and the Genting Sky Avenue Shopping Mall and First World Plaza on the top of the hill. If you purchase a 2-way ticket, you will get a small discount. A 1-way ticket costs RM10 per adult, whereas the 2-way ticket costs RM18 per adult. If you have time, I recommend that you explore the Chin Swee Temple which is located halfway in between the 2 main cable car stations for a trip into Chinese culture and mythology. This attraction is completely free of charge for everyone!

For only RM9 per way for this ride from mid-mountain to the peak of Genting Highlands, definitely underpriced. It is sufficiently new and modern, well maintained, queue that seems long but moves quickly, traversing quite a distance, across 2-3 stations, an optional stop at a Chinese temple and well staffed. Great experience. If this was anywhere overseas, be prepared to pay upwards of USD10!!!

We paid extra for the glass floor from the staff managed automated ticket kiosk as we paid extra our thought was it would be a little faster than normal cable car. Unfortunately nothing could have been further from the truth. We found out that there was 1 glass bottom cable car every 10 cars and since they were not shared cars we had to wait for over an hour just to get to the front of the line. After asking the attendant to just give us any car to go up he just rudely waved his hand in my face and walked away. Had the staff who was selling tickets informed that there was a long wait time for the glass bottom car we could have made another choice as the skyworlds theme park closes early (6 pm). The ride was nice with good scenery but our goal was to get there as quickly as possible as it is a destination transit.

They do not practice social distancing , people crowd together queueing, coughing away. No limits of people per cable car , and no enforcement of wearing mask. And you cant choose to avoid those people as the staff keep ‘ stuffing’ more passenger into the cable car. View from cable car is awesome.

Highly recommend this excellent ride up to Genting Highlands. Although we had a chauffeured car and could have driven up to Genting directly, our family of 6 decided to take the Genting Cable car from Gohtong station. It was half price for Malaysians over 60 of age. It’s quite easy to buy a ticket there. We were there on a weekday and whilst there was a queue, it moved pretty fast. There is a complimentary stop at a temple if you want to visit. As you approach Genting Highlands, you can practically see the various theme parks, hotels and parking areas. I especially like the green hill views at the start to before approaching Genting.

Genting Highlands is located on the top of Ulu Kali Mountain at an altitude of 1,800 meters. The last time we came here was 17 years ago, and we have forgotten the scenery we saw then. This time our family came again. We took the Skyline Cable Car to Genting Entertainment City. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the mountain ridge by taking the cable car, and you can also experience what it would call "Genting Highlands" because we are accompanied by clouds and mist when we go up and down. Especially when we go down in the afternoon, we feel like we are riding through clouds and mist. We must go to Genting Entertainment City The trip is worthwhile if you take the Yuntian Cable Car.

Amazing views, great skyway / cable car. Ride is probably about 15 mins, goes quite quickly. Stunning scenery, felt well run and safe. A highlight of the trip.

We recommend taking the gondola instead of driving up as it offers amazing views. By the time I get to Awana Terminal, I already suffer from motion sickness, but compared to traveling by car, I don't get motion sickness and can see the beautiful scenery. We moved without much waiting and the speed was faster than expected.

I am visiting genting eith my 1 year old, we are going via bus and its gonna be a 1 day trip, is it advisable to carry her stroller along ? I've seen esclators and stairs everywhere, no lift so far and is it ok to carry stroller in cable car ? Kindly guide

Hello, I've only been to this location once. According to my personal experience, if you want to see everything and take part in every one of the activities, you shouldn't bring a stroller (it will be dangerous to try to jump in with it on the skycab). Instead, tote him or have a baby carrier. There will be a lot of strolling, including stair walking. Each viewpoint requires a short climb and drop of steps because it is slightly elevated above the regular viewing platform.

Food and drinks are expensive and exorbitantly overpriced up in Genting, except perhaps Texas Chicken, McDonald's and other chain stores. Definitely bring your own drinks and dried snacks from elsewhere before going to Genting.

What is the difference between the 2 cable cars from Goh Tong Jaya & the one from Awana Skyway.?
If I buy the ticket online for Awana Skyway can I change to start my journey from Goh Tong Jaya Cable car station?
Written 17 June 2019
Awana Skyway is the new cable car system. The old cable car system only operates when Awana Skyway is under service.
