Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The roadside layby has now been turned into a very fancy carpark and lookout with walking track, which adds a fair bit of time if you’re planning just a quick stop for photos. But it’s still an essential stop for the best view of the lake, and some of the finest lakeside and mountain scenery in the country.
In every direction there are totally clear views across the lake to the mountains and down to Glenorchy, and the elevated viewpoint makes the pictures and the selfies just perfect.
An essential stop.

It’s just a short walk & a slight incline to the lookout but it’s so worth a stop. Looking to the right towards Glenorchy you could see snow on the tops of the mountains. Beautiful.

Fully recommend to stop by for 30min at this photo spot, well marked signs and nice parking, short climb boardwalks to a hilltop lookout.

Great stop to view the northern end of Lake Wakatipu and surrounding mountains towards Glenorchy. Easy walk to the viewing platform, suitable for all fitness levels.

This was our favourite viewpoint of our stay in Queenstown and since we had headed out quite early we had it all to ourselves for a good 15 mins. On a clear day visibility is fantastic, definitely recommend as a stop on the road to Glenorchy

A short uphill walk. Totally worth the stunning views in multiple directions. Plenty of easy parking. Not to be missed.

We were driving along the Glenorchy-Queenstown Rd towards Glenorchy and stopped by this lookout point for a rest. It offers beautiful views of Lake Wakatipu.
