This is the first of the three gorges on the Yangtze. It is about five miles long and not very impressive. When traversing the river, you don't have a choice but to go through this area.

This was the final gorge before heading into Chongquing. We enjoyed the scenery and the weather as we cruised along. Again, a highlight of our China trip

More of a review of the city which is located on the north bank of the west mouth of the gorge. A historic site dating back to the Han Dynasty with buildings and temples all not original. There is also a museum with hanging coffins

Cruised through this gorge recently and it was much better than my first visit. Firstly the river was lower due to the recent decrease in the water level, and secondly as there was a really good English speaking guide on the Century Legend.
