Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really nice place with good atmosphere. Silent around, not so many people, great small decorations and amazing view from the point view. One of the most important place in Nan

We went to this wat on Thailands Children's Day and scored free ice cream and a photo with the tourist police. Great view of the town except for the haze. Lovely little temple for prayers and a donation will let you light some incense a put a little bit of gold leaf on some statues. Nice.

First of all, everyone will tell you to go by car, by van or by motorbike...we went by bicycle! It's really hard to get there but it worths every physical effort not only to visit this pearl of Nan but also to contemplate the views over the entire city. On the way to the Big C, when you see the Golden Temple, turn left and go straightforwardly until the huge traffic lights where you'll make a right turn. And basically you'll need to "climb" all the road until you reach the plain part. You can park here on the left side of the road as there are cars/motorbikes coming and going in both ways. Park here and stop to admire the 305 steps!!! Now? Now, start climbing to the Wat! Don't forget to take some water with you as it's very hot during the day.
On the 50th step there is a huge Buddha in the position of seated on the right side. Stop here to take some extra air :-)
The first thing we made when we got up there was literaly running to see the "wow" views from the city and to enjoy the sunset also! Here on the top there is the Wat, one Stupa and more buildings for monks. The area is very large and very calm!
Highly recommend to visit this place and stay for a while ;-)

Firstly, this is a great place to visit at dawn and/or sunset. I went at the latter. The golden Buddha looks out over the township of Nan. You can drive to the top or park half way and walk the 300 odd steps, if you’re fit and adventurous.

This is a great temple, perfect for viewing Nan, but the best time to visit is for sunrise, magnificent. For a good sunset, take the dirt road to the left about half way up to the temple and this will take you to a small restaurant and great spot to view the sunset. For the fitter, you can walk the steps up to the Wat, not for me I drove.

Nan is not the biggest of places but if you want to look at it from above, this is certainly the place. From my perspective Nan lies in a basin surrounded by mountains and this nice temple is on a pimple within the basin and that is meant with respect. When I visited it offered a very nice 180 degree vista which was late in the evening and because it is not so high we could recognize individual places and trace where we had been and how we got there. Being a week day and in the evening it was very quiet and peaceful with what I thought some nice photo opportunities. You can drive all the way to the top or stop sort of half way up and take the Naga staircase which has 303 steps; some local Thais use this as a means of exercise. Please be warned the steps are quite steep and the challenge is to do it without stopping! No entry fee and if you are in this part of the world it would be a mistake not to go there. Highly enjoyable.

Most people drive up the hill to the temple, but you get a sense of achievement climbing the 303 steps from the road below. From the viewpoint at the top, the panoramic sights of Nan city and surroundings are a photographer's delight. If you have time, it's worth visiting both in the morning and evening. It's not far from the center of town. May be easier by car or motorbike, rather than riding a bicycle (which seems to be very popular in Nan).

After seeing many photos online of the Buddha statue seemingly floating in the air over the Nan valley below, I wanted to see this temple. The statue itself is relatively new, whereas the chedi (stupa) is quite old. The statue faces east over looking the valley below. The temple is a short 15 min drive from downtown Nan, up a low hill.
