Special place

Lovely out of the way beach. No facilities, no accessibility access. Long flight of steep concrete steps to access the beach.
Volcanic black sand is a novelty. Amazing snorkeling along the shore.

Ready for a grey beach
Mar 2019
Due to volcanos, this beach is grey sand.

I liked that grey sand. It is unique.

I liked the palm trees.

There was a boardwalk as well. and a shelter.

There were a lot of people on the besch. Many were snorkeling and swimming.

There were a lot of ships on the ocean.

Everybody seemed to be happy.

Special experience
May 2019
When you arrive to this beach you will at first experience the idea like the beach is dirty. The closer you get you will see it is just because the sand is black. It is a very small cute beach but except for the sands not very special. Do not expect a big beach and bars to get a drink because there are none. I also wish to let you know that you need to be able to walk because there are only high stairs and some rocks to get there.

Hidden paradise
Jun 2019 • Solo
This is a hidden beach that only locals or sailers now. It is quiet and you have a lot of place to swim and hang out.

Be careful, its a black beach, what means the sand is extremely hot. You will burn your feet, so take flip flops or shoes.

There are no bars or restaurants

For sunset I prefer not this beach, but the more closer to the city beach with cold beers and supermarket near. It is called the beach of L’anse a l'ane

Great snorkeling
Feb 2019
The parking is a nightmare to reach this unique spot but is worth it if you are a snorkeler. If you are a sunbather, there are many fantastic options on Martinique.

There are mask and kayak rentals here but no facilities. The beach is small and natural. Not raked or groomed.

Black sand is hot on your feet....
Feb 2019 • Couples
Came here because we were told it was the best beach for snorkeling, and also very pretty.

Pretty it was, but there was nothing in the water that day of any interest, and I swam the perimeter of the entire coast from point to point that you can see from the beach. My back got nicely tanned.

Beautiful beach but parking an nightmare
Feb 2019
The parking is a nightmare, at a dead end, with limited spots. This causes people to park on one side of a very narrow and steep road, requiring frequent backing up to let cars pass each other. We were actually at an impasse for half an hour as drivers were refusing to back up and the traffic was at a standstill. Anse Noir was fairly empty, and we saw why when one guy showed us the series of jellyfish stings covering his torso as we were walking down to the beach. We were grateful for the warning. This is a beautiful, and less touristy beach than Anse Dufour, but we didn't stay because we couldn't go in the water. FYI: contrary to claims, it is not the only black sand beach on the island (Anse Couleuvre in the north, much easier to park at).

Great snorkeling
Feb 2019 • Family
This is small hidden beach that has black sand. As it is small it can get very crowded and parking is a bit of a problem. But we came late afternoon so it was ok. There is a long peer which has on many points access into water. The snorkeling was great. There are turtles and big schools of fish. This was the best snorkeling experience during our two weeks Caribbean holidays. The great thing is the peer. If you are snorkeling with young kids, you can go far our into see and the peer is always nearby if the kids get tired so you can use the ladder to get out of the water. It’s also good fun jumping from it.

Beautiful Black Sand Beach
Nov 2018 • Solo
This beach has a good hike up and down but worth it. The black sand is very unique compared to the others in this area of the island. The snorkeling was just alright, I was there in the afternoon and I think the morning along the right side of bay would be the best time to see.
