- tomcezarSuceava, Romania2 contributionsJust one time. The route is well laid out, clean, very easy to walk. I was not impressed. The same landscape as in many other areas. I think the access system is exaggerated, with a limited number of tourists. You arrive in the area and risk not visiting this place and having the impression that you missed something amazing. Too much advertising and too high a price for something ordinary. The explanatory panels are old and some are hard to read. Some explanations for the old aqueducts once built there would also be good. I will definitely not be back! There are more beautiful places on the island.Dear Tomcezar, we are very sorry to hear that you were not impressed with the experience. The access system is for reasons of conservation and environmental protection, the Barranco del Infierno trail is a Protected Natural Area and these rules are made so that present and future generations can enjoy it. The panels deteriorate due to sun exposure and that is why we replace them frequently. - 431matteo1 contributionBeautiful Barranco, but reduced to a tourist overrun attractionthe natural setting is magnific, the barranco del infierno is such a beautiful canyon. but honestly, you can visit many other barrancos in Tenerife, just by walking the trails up or down on your own, at your pace. Tha'ts at least what for me is interesting. in this barranco you have to: a) book in advance via internet and pay for access b) even provide your name and personal data of all participants (why, actually? hopefully these data is being protected and deleted after use as per gdpr requirement) c) park in the parking area some 500m below the entrance, since the road ends abruptly (you could communicate this in the confirmation e-mail) d) wear a helmet during the whole walk, as a precaution for falling rocks e) enter the trail with other tourists simultaneoulsy, a group of about 15-20 people, you will have to walk faster or slower to find some place on your own and avoid having the sensation of being in a shopping mall f) this can be done only in the morning, since it closes at 1 or 2 pm. I honestly understand some of the reasons (security, number regulation) behind this choice, but any random trail in the beautiful island is a better choice for me, since walking in the hills/mountains cannot be reduced to a packaged format with tight space and time and crowd. Like experiencing being in the nature, but at the same time eliminating all nature out of the experience. not for me (might be perfectly good for others)Thank you very much 431matteo for your review. It is normal that you have to book in advance because it is a Protected Natural Area and the maximum number of people per day is 300 for conservation and protection reasons. For us it is essential to preserve and protect it. The price includes rescue insurance, which is not included in Social Security nor in the free trails. If the helicopter or fire department had to come in case of an accident on other trails, the user would have to pay for it. Of course the data is protected and we will inform you in the forms. As for the parking is the information in the previous mail you receive before making the hike, also on our website and social medias. We are sorry that you did not really enjoy the experience, fortunately most of the visitors who visit us enjoy the environment, our native flora and fauna and above all nature. Best regards and we hope that someday you will enjoy the trail and its natural beauty.Written 17 February 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 February 2023
- Luc A2 contributionsOne of the many highlights of TenerifeMarvelous trail. Real nice nature. Just a pitty a bit too touristic and not so authentic anymore. Also confusing i.r.o. the different rates. I booked as "resident in Adeje (non registered)" and payed upfront 4,5 EUR. In the website they indeed make a distinction between "Resident adult registered in Adeje"(2,5 EUR) and "resident adult in Adeje"(4,5 EUR). At the entrance I had to pay an extra 6,5 EUR as non-resident. It's not about the money, but better avoid confusion.Thank you very much J1960UWluca for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your experience on the Barranco del Infierno trail. We are very sorry for your confusion but the resident price is for people who are residents of the municipality and can provide documentation to prove it. Best regards and we hope you will visit us again soon.Written 28 February 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Written 26 February 2023
- B1airDublin, Ireland3 contributionsNot for usTo start, we cannot comment on the trail because we showed up at our designated time, assessed the situation, then quickly asked for a refund. It was not what we were expecting. We hike regularly, so are comfortable finding trail heads and exploring new venues (We lean heavily on Alltrails). We read that this was a beautiful hike and made the assumption that the combination of having to schedule a time and pay for the hike meant that there would be a steady stream of hikers, but no crowds. What we ran into was the opposite. It felt more like showing up for a very large group event! We arrived ahead of our scheduled time and were asked to wait in a holding area that had at least 40-50 people waiting. Everyone was given mandated helmets to wear. Many people were dressed more for a walk than a hike... some wearing sandals or soft bottomed running shoes. We were told we were waiting "to allow the previous group to make space". Meanwhile, they closed off our holding area and started a new one for others arriving - to wait for us to "make space on the trail" once we were able to leave. We waited 20 minutes, then concluded this is not what we were looking for in a hike. We removed ourselves from the waiting area and asked for a refund, which they gladly gave us. When we left our group was still waiting. I'm sure it is a beautiful hike (there is so much beauty on the island), but we were not looking for a "group experience". We turned to Alltrails, found a glorious (free) hike around Montaña Roja and had a glorious day.We are very sorry for your evaluation without knowing the trail and without having enjoyed the experience. For your information the trail has a maximum access of 300 people per day. Helmets are a must because they are a great protection tool in case of rock falls. It is also true that it is not free because it includes, among other things, rescue insurance which is not included in the Social Security nor in the rest of the free routes. We understand that it was not what you were looking for but we are very sorry to hear that you rate us so badly without knowing what the experience is like. Best regards and hopefully sometime in the future we will be able to offer you the best service.Written 18 March 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Written 16 March 2023
- Jayne C3 contributionsReception staff need customer service training.Don’t bother going if you have not made a reservation. Always fully booked. Reception staff, need a lesson in customer service. As resident in Tenerife I will certainly never be going again. Plenty of FREE walks in Tenerife. We are very sorry for your words and your review JaynecW895ZE. It is not always booked out, and proof of this is that many tourists and residents visit us every day. If you look on our official website you can book in advance. It is true that there are many trails in Tenerifes, many of them wonderful and free, but they do not have insurance protection and accident insurance. If you have come and did not have any free places, we invite you to visit our website, like all visitors, and make your reservation in advance. The statement that the Barranco del infierno trail is always fully booked is totally false. Best regards and we hope that the next time you write a comment it is true and that you have actually visited the trail.Written 25 September 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 September 2023

Thank you RalphCrook for your review and for enjoying your experience on the Barranco del Infierno Trail.
The waterfall does not have much water, except after rainy days but, it is very special because it receives its water from vertical rainfall and clouds condensing inside the gorge, phenomena that rarely occur simultaneously worldwide.
We hope you will visit us again soon.

It was fantastic, i liked it and it was a beautiful experience. I can absolutely recommend checking it out. I also had small talk with the kind staff member at the waterfall, who explained that the visit is timed with the wildlife and weather conditions. It was a nice Insight. Both thumbs Up!

Barranco del infierno is good place for hiking. The views were amazing. It is good to go early in the morning, when the weather is cooler. Pretty good condition is good to have, because there are a lot of climbing up and down on the route. For fast walkers the route takes two hours 15 minutes and generally three hours 30 minutes

Very nice trip, beautiful country. In the first half of the path, rocks, cacti and a slight climb, in the second half we suddenly passed into a green thicket with a small stream and at the end a cave with an open ceiling and a waterfall

Beautiful hiking, but it was also heavy. Hot sun in the first 20 minutes and a lot of climbing. Im wondering if it is suitable for Kids.
The nature and the rocks are beatiful, like the waterfall at the end. It was a very nice activity.
