All reviews little venice photo opportunity beautiful windmills great pictures nice view take pictures wind mills great spot watch the sunset aegean sea cruise ship visiting mykonos old port in town landmark island tourists
Of the 16 windmills on Mykonos, seven are positioned on the famous landmark hill in Chora. They were once used to mill grain, but now remain the top tourist attraction. As soon as we got off the cruise ship, we went straight to the windmills...More
We got up early before the heat of the day and there were not many people yet. The tourist groups start arriving around 10 am in our experience. The windmills were in the process of being restored and there was some scaffolding yet it was...More
Not really much more than a great photo opportunity. There are so many people it can be very difficult to get a good photo without a ton of people cluttering it up. Go very early at sunrise for the best chance to beat the crowds.
If you are in Mykonos you really must check out the windmills and take a photo. If you are going in the summer or there when there are multiple cruise ships in town...get up early! We were the first off our ship and high tailed...More
We visited the windmills earlier today but unfortunately they were tied up and not working maybe because it's off season and very windy.
Nevertheless a great spot for a panoramic view of the seafront and breathtaking pictures.
The windmills themselves are a good photo opp. Located in Little Venice, the harbour area of the town centre, they back onto a miniature beach. Nice little tourist part of the island which is good for lunch/drinks but not much else to do.

Old Town in Mykonos is definitely a place you would want to be on your own and walk around. It is just an unbelievable place that one can't possibly get lost and the whole fun of traveling is exploring. While walking or wandering through Old Town, you will eventually end up at the shoreline and if you continue on your left until you reach the end, you will see the famous "windmill" view! A short, perhaps 15-30 min. walk, depending if you stop to look at shops and attractions along the way. A well-worth walk! Don't take the taxi, you will miss out many views and be caught in the traffic jam that we saw parked to look for parking! Enjoy!
