You Will Fall in Love with Corfu

Thank you Spiros for introducing us to your beautiful island of Corfu. We had a one day stop in Corfu on our Crystal cruise. I am so grateful that I discovered Spiros through Trip Advisor. He was excellent with communications from my first message to him. The pick up was easy and we were off to learn about Corfu and see amazing sites. We loved the stop at Mr. George's and the tomatoes were the BEST!

Best tour ever!

If you are lucky enough to join Spiros Kritikos for a tour of Corfu, you will experience your best tour ever. We've taken 11 cruises, visited more than 70 ports of call, and this is the best personal tour we've ever had.

First the Logistics... The meeting point is a bit crowded, but the directions were perfect. Keep your cell on and able to receive an email or text. The auto was a clean and very comfortable Mercedes.

Homework... Though not necessary, I recommend you spend a few minutes before your appointment to learn a little about this beautiful island. Look at a map, read a bit, and come up with a list of places you would like to see and things you would like to do.

Our Host... Spiros is a wonderful person: friendly, knowledgeable, and interesting, with a great sense of humor and pride in his birthplace. It was easy to tell that he loves his island and his work.

The Start... After introducing ourselves we went over the list of things we had come up with that were of interest to us. I had also included a couple things that we preferred to pass on. We learned that Corfu is not as small as it might seem, particularly when driving in mountainous areas. Spiros confirmed that most items were doable, suggested skipping a couple, and most importantly, he suggested things he thought we might like that we couldn't have known about. Doing a bit of "homework" helped plan our itinerary.

The Tour... This was our "splurge" day on our cruise. Corfu held a place in our hearts ever since we saw the PBS special, "The Durrells of Corfu." Not knowing if we would ever return, and not wanting to rush things. we had selected the option of touring with Spiros for five hours. So glad we did!
Spiros took us to places that most cruise ship passengers would not see. Yes, we too are tourists, but we like to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds. We visited mountainous areas with incredible views, all the while getting a history lesson as well as a course on olive trees. And I never knew fresh figs could taste so good, taken right off the tree. All of this interspersed with Spiros' wonderful sense of humor. I also have a tiny amount of sand as a reminder of the beautiful tiny 700 year old church we stopped at.
While walking through a small village, population 90, we passed by a small cafe, and I asked to take a break for coffee and a snack. With no other tourists around, Cafe Veatriki reminded me of my travels in the Greek countryside a lifetime ago, and I can still taste the best lemon cake ever, baked by the cafe owner.
After exploring the area, we continued our tour of the island, and later stopped at a local store/market/souvenir shop. This was the only place we met a couple tour busses. Spiros whisked us inside and sat us at a wine barrel table. In a matter of seconds, he prepared a totally unexpected lunch for us, slicing a loaf of bread from a mountain bakery, with olive oil and rosemary for dipping, fresh tomatoes, feta and of course, olives.
After passing through the town of Pelekas, we stopped at Kaisers Throne for
incredible views of the island. We even got a glimpse of a couple of settings where the Durrells of Corfu was filmed.

The Best Tomatoes!

Just did a family tour of Corfu with Spiros and our two little kids coming off a ship. He went above and beyond to make sure the car seat was one we felt comfortable putting our baby in. Very attentive asking if we needed AC etc, good sense of humor, proactive to take photos for us and share his love of his island. We saw a lot in 4 hours. He was kind to share cookies from a local bakery with our daughter and bring bread, feta and the best tomatoes for us to snack on dipped with olive oil. Highly recommend anyone visiting Corfu for a day trip to use him!!

Wonderful day in Corfu

Easily booked on line or through Whatsapp. Spiros met us at the dock and made the most of our limited shore time. He took us to some of the most scenic spots on the island and shared so much information about it with us. We learned all about olive culture and pressing, fruits and herbs grown on the island, village life and Corfu history. He treated us to traditional Corfiot "snacks" which were fresh bread with olive oil, tomato and really good feta with herbs he picked from beside the road, olives, mushroom tart, candied kumquat. It was a feast! We were away from the cruise ship crowds and he took some great photos of us. In the end, because of time constraints, we had to choose between time in Corfu town or swimming. We chose to swim and were taken to a beach with mostly local people where we had a refreshing dip. Spiros is good company. He is very professional and entertaining. He is conscious of your time and makes the most of it, while seeing that you are never in danger of being late back to the ship. The charge was for the taxi and the time for up to 4 people. There were only two of us but the cost was still reasonable considering all we saw and the personal attention we received. I highly recommend Spiros Kritikos and corfutaxitours@gmail.com

Do not hesitate to use these guys! Spirro was totally awesome and funny once he realized that we were nuts. I wish their business was at every location where we travel... a no brainer. As long as we live Spirro will be remembered and stories told.

LEO IS SPECTACULAR!!! There could not be a kinder, more patient, welcoming, and informative host in Corfu! He drove my parents and I around the island for 2 days and showed us the most beautiful spots in Corfu. He was a pleasure to be with and took such care and pleasure in hosting us and ensuring we experienced the best of his island. He truly treated us like family and enhanced our trip so significantly; he really made Corfu special! It’s a gorgeous island and you couldn’t ask for a better host/driver/teacher/friend. I can’t recommend him enough and his car is GORGEOUS! Thank you, Leo, you were unforgettable for these Texans!

Wonderful day with Spiros

Spiros met us at the dock and proceeded to take us on a wonderful day of sightseeing. Went to several out of the way places to see remote villages and how daily life is in these areas. Some spectacular views along the way, we were also able to taste some of the local Olive Oil and wine are a small store along the way. (Georges). Vegetables. Would highly recommend and hope to use him again in the future. Super knowledgeable and made the day FUN.

Don't hesitate to book with Spiros

We had booked Spiros after reading about him on Tom's Port Guides, where Tom had highly recommended him. Spiros met us at the port and drove us around the island for 5 hours. We saw beauty ' off the tourist trail' in many places. He knew the most photographic spots and was an incredible guide. Who knew that so many herbs, fruits and vegetables were growing in Corfu? The best part of our tour was when he stopped at Georges Cellar in Lakones. He knew the owner and he proceeded to bring a bag out of his trunk and prepare us a fabulous treat of fresh baked bread, fresh tomato, garlic olive oil, olives, wine and the best feta cheese we ever have had. We sat at a table made from a large wine barrel and were amazed at how delicious it was . This was one of those experiences you can't anticipate nor would have thought to arrange. He created an incredible memory for us, one we will always associate with Corfu and Spiros. I highly recommend him and his delightful tour of his island, Corfu.

Spirits gave us the best 4 hour tour of Corfu! He is knowledgeable and fun! Very flexible to take us where we wanted to go and had great ideas of most beautiful places on the island. He is the best!
