We visited this cave as part of one of the walks through the woods around Cong. The history of the cave is interesting enough but venturing down the steps is a real treat. With a bit of an adventuring mind, it's easy enough to explore...More

The cave sits along a 4km, or so, loop in the forest park beside Cong village. You get to it by going through the monastery ruins and over the little bridge, then turn right. The woodlands around there are lovely. The walk is very gentle...More

4km walk loop to pigeon hole cave, very cool. The kids and I thought this was very neat. Even the trees were amazing, huge sequioas, everything is moss covered. Cool climb up the tower along the trail. Very quiet and not full of people.

A lovely walk, not challenging at all, in the shade of the trees. The cave it self is down a few dozen steps and easily accessible for all, though the steps are slippery.

There a trail just off Main St. in Cong, you walk down the trail a bit and you come upon the Cave, There's steps to go down to get into the cave, their easy to manage, not a hugh cave but still interesting.

A nice walk on a good day but a cretain amount of fitness is needed. Wear good walking shoes as there is quite a few steps to negoiate.

This is a 1.5 hour round trip walk from Ashford Castle (or the small village of Cong) called the Pigeon Hole Loop. It is through a beautiful forest, and well marked. Don't miss it!

Stumbled on this along a walk in Cong woods. What a surprise. very steep steps. Not suitable for very young children but a treat for the older children

It's a little bit of a hike from parking, but well worth the nice walk through beautiful trees, very quiet and peaceful. The cave has steps carved going down as well as a handrail. Even children would get a kick out of this!
