I for one I am not the best fan of lake having grown up next to the sea. However it is great to be able to enjoy such a site and be able to enjoy a swim too. The view anyway on the lake are breathtaking. As it is surrounded by a pine forest.

A great place to relax in great peaceful surroundings. The lakes, which can be seen from a flight from the UK to Malaga are only an hour from the Costa, yet you are a million miles away from any real commercialism. The lakes are reservoirs used to supply water to Malaga province, and a great place to swim and cool... More

The reservoirs near Ardales/El Chorro are a great place for those who'd like to escape from the Costas for one day. Set in a stunning natural scenary of a pine tree forest and mountains it is a great place to relax. I highly recommend the La Isla area where one can hire canoes, sunbeds and pedalboats. It's also worth mentioning... More

We try to go to as many times as possible, all the family love it here. Not only is it beautiful but there is something for everyone, you can find one of the more hidden spots for a quiet day or venture to where the pedalos, canoes and all manor of fun things can be found for hire. Either way... More

I saw these beautiful lakes from the plane and suggested we look for them as we've been to the Costa del Sol a few times and have run out of new things to do with toddlers in tow. Hire a car for this trip as I don't think public transport will get you there (but I could be wrong). It's... More

A photographers dream! Great Walks and stunning scenery: Granite Rocks, Sandstone Rocks, Lakes, trees and open space. Popular with Cyclists and Motorcyclists. Busy on Bank Holidays and Sundays with locals and coach parties. Many activity centres for water sports. If you are brave: take the Kings walk! Park has bee used as the backdrop for many movies.

When the Embalses (reservoirs) were created I don't think anyone realised just what a wonderful outdoor area they were creating. The pine clad hill surrounded by beautiful turquoise lakes, simply stunning. There are a few bars and restaurants but mostly uncommercialised areas. The area is great for cycling with lots of hills for the road cyclist and quite a few... More

This was the first time we had visited this part of Spain and we were not disappointed. The lakes are absolutely beautiful. We used the car park which cost 1euro per car and 1 euro per person to enter. There are plenty of facilities, a small shop in the car park, toilets, but no paper in the loo, pedalo's and... More

We have been holidaying on the costa del sol for years as my in-laws have a flat on the coast, but had never been to the lakes until someone told us about it this year. We were tempted by the swimming and scenery so thought it was worth an hour's drive from our flat. We weren't disappointed, and were pleasantly... More
