We went on December, and it was very cold and windy, and the shops and the restaurants are all closed. But the view of the Geneva lake is fantastic and the city is lovely with its medieval streets, worth visiting it.

A short drive from Geneva and on the banks of the lake this little town is a little gem. The old church towering over the town, the cobbled stone streets, cafes and restaurants, souvenir shops. A great way to spend a day exploring the town. You can...More

An easy drive from Geneva or you can take the ferry. Plenty of parking as the town is all pedestrianised. Very quaint with good mix of specialist shops and restaurants. Worth a visit if you are in the area even out of season.

Visited in May and on a lovely day. Plenty eateries to chose from , and nice views across the lake from some of them. Usual tourist type shops, but some selling goods made locally, and of good quality.

From a base in Switzerland, the adventure starts with the boat ride across Lake Geneva to Yvoire....try to match your timing timing to the schedule of one of the old, but superbly maintained CGN steamboats plowing across the Lakes. Kids, young and old love these...More

A truly wonderful little historic fishing village which is totally unspoilt. I have never known such a tiny village to have numerous eating establishments. You can certainly understand why this is a World Heritage Site. Also several little arty crafty shops all selling quality artifax...More

We visited Yvoire for the day, taking the paddle steamer from Geneva. We wanted a unique, mellow outing, and this trip definitely fit the bill. Yvoire is a small town with numerous shops (glass jewelry, home decorations, art, souvenirs, etc.) and several ice cream/gelato shops...More

That's not easy! There isn't a rail link to Yvoire and even if there were Yvoire is in France and I am not sure your Swiss Rail Pass would work. You could use your pass to get to Nyon and then boat across. The boats... More

Skip Yvoire; it is a T-trap. Use the time to explore the Alps or route d' Napoleon on the way to Paris.
