About
The Lombardy Region officially recognised the Nature Reserve of Manerba del Garda ("Della Rocca, del Sasso e Parco Lacuale") with a regional resolution in April 2016. The park covers a territory of approximately 1,160,000 m2 (include meadows, woodland, trails, vineyards and olive groves), as well as 850,000 m2 of the lake itself. The Reserve was established to preserve and promote the ecosystem and landscape, historical and archeological sites, as well as to support such activities as education and understanding, preservation and divulgation of a unique environment, remarkable for both its history and biodiversity. The Valtenesi Archeological Museum within the Reserve is the information centre for visitor who wish to understand why throughout history humans have chosen to settle in this spectacular setting. The Reserve is always open to the public.

One of the most beautiful places on the lake. I suggest going on a clear day. Be wary the trail decent from the cross—it’s steep, and if you go back that way the trail is rated “expert” but takes 20/30 min or so down to the water. Other trails in the park allow you spend hours on the terrain.

Steep climb but stunning view from the top... sadly it is hard to get a good picture of the actual cross as people tend to like to lean against it or sit by it.

nice afternoon tour to a historic place with a superb view to lake Garda.
Take care, if you descend the way down on the backisde of the hill. It's pretty steep.

The most beautiful 360 degree view of Lake Garda and surrounding area. Worth the drive or hike. Enjoy a refreshing drink or gelato when you come back down.

Amazing views and well worth the trek up the hill. There’s a car park half way up for those driving. There’s also a bar and museum, can’t comment on that as it was closed on the day we went up and is every Tuesday. Useful history and stories in Italian,German and English at various stages. Amazing views. They will take your breath away.

We found this place in a local tourist brochure, it wasn’t included in our Rough Guide. We were so glad to have found it. It is on the top of a hill looking straight at the first row of Alps and right down the northern end of Lake Garda. You are up high and feel like you are right in the view. There are also stunning views of the beaches and islands below.

The rocca is a ruin but these make good climbing fun for the kids.

The walk from the car park to the top takes five to ten minutes but the local tourist centre promotes walks around the base of the hill which are up to 6km long.

We went in the recent hot spell and it was 36 degrees so take a hat and some water. (As kiwis used to living in a place with harsh sun we were amazed we were the only ones wearing hats!) There is also a handy cafe back at the car park which has ice blocks and cool drinks which came in very handy!

The building was marked Museum but we concluded that this wasn’t open or had closed.

In all, this place is spectacular and we were so glad we went. Definitely the most stunning view of our trip and even better because it is a little hard to find on windy roads and this seemed to have deterred the hordes on the lidos below!

Took the walk from Solarolo to the Rocca di Manerba. Was worth the walk as the scenery at the end is breath taking with views of the lake and mountains stretching as far as the eye can see. Nature at its best. Recommended
