It's a fun drive up to get to the place - a little stressful at times, as there are some single lane passes that need to be navigated - but ultimately, it's worth it for the views over Lake Garda.

I am personally not fond of any churches in general, so I only visited it briefly, but I would definitely recommend this place because of its magnificient view.

A great church which is worthwhile to go to. Church itself is lovely, but also the view on the Garda-lake. The walk to the cross is also recommended. Possible walk / track through the forrest is great, but also the traffic road to the chirch with all statues makes feels like a pilgrimach.

This is an Italian Holy Place, but the ambiance of the Sanctuary was welcoming, friendly, and forgiving to all who, perhaps, did not "know the rules". I had the feeling that everyone was welcome to enjoy the beauty and spirituality of it all. The history is amazing, and it all has been beautifully restored.

You can drive up to Montecastello but we decided to walk . There is a little sanctuary at the bottom of the hill with a beautiful painting. Then as you begin the walk uphill there are the shrines depicting the Mysteries of the Rosary. The staircase to the sanctuary was constructed in 1599.You can go behind the altar to see frescoes... Walked to this place from our apartment in Tignale which took 30 mins. It was a long walk up-hill but once up there the views were amazing. If you want to go into the actual church, you will need to cover up. There's a bar/cafe were you can sit and enjoy the views and a cuppa. (See photo).

A pleasant outing if you like walking, but you can also drive up. The view of Lake Garda is spectacular.

perfect way to burn calories gained by pizza and ice-cream ;-) There is a little cafe on top of the hill, which we didn't know about in advance, and was very helpful after the walk.

Situated just below the summit of Monte Castello the terrace outside the church offers wonderful, panoramic views over Lake Garda. It can be reached by a narrow, winding road; if you choose to approach on foot it's probably about 30 minutes from Gardola village at average walking pace... but it is steep so you may wish to take advantage of...
